So, anyone have a rundown on DA's various health problems? If he's healthy, then I completely agree with the Mooch/Spoon analogy. Major upside for the Rocks, and Anderson is a good passer, if memory serves. Doesn't turn the ball over. Ball movement gets that much better, and insurance for Sura. I'd do it.

I am not sure if Kidd would be a good fit on a team with yao and JVG's half court geared offense, BUT I will be praying in any case just so that we can get rid of taylor's contract. :D

    Except it is.

The Blazers basically have to sit through 1/2 a season more of Shareef, and he's gone. And they'd rather pay a backup PF 9 mill for 2 more seasons past that, just so they can get a mid-late first rounder? A year after they had 3 of them? Please.

And from the Nets perspective- keeping SAR is hardly a given. They have Jefferson and VC locked in on the wings, so Miles is back to coming off the bench with his fat long term contract. So the Nets trade their only real PG , team leader, and star (Planinic and Best) to acquire a half year rental of a PF and a problem child contract that would be coming off the bench. Brilliant!

Further, Mo makes around 8.5 million. Kidd makes over 14 million. So, uh, we're the other 5.5 mill coming from? (No, the TE can't be aggregated). I suppose the Nets would be interested in adding Howard' and his years as a backup PF?

DA for MO... Its good for both teams... I'd like to get rid of Gaines and Ward somehow off of our books... we could go after a legit 4 in the offseason. I'd like to draft one like the kid from Duke and also go after Kwame or Swift.

    Yao / Deke
    Juwan / Padgett
    T-mac / Bowen
    D.A / Barry
    Sura / Wesley

Really a solid line up. Add a few athletic players next year and we look even better.

I hope Nike's post squelches all this Kidd talk. Otherwise, how about someone throwing a Garnett for MoT rumor...

Good points. If Mo is just going to sit on the IL and we can somehow get something for him then CD has to pull the trigger. Derek Anderson could play along side Wesley or Barry in the backcourt if Sura gets injured or the Rockets want to reduce his mins. Plus if we get DA then that probably means alot less mins for Rod Strickland as well.

When has Chad Ford come up with any original stuff?
I find it hard to believe but if Portland wants Mo for DA it will be a good deal for us if DA gets fit quickly.

I've liked the games of Wesley, Barry, and Derek Anderson for quite some time now. While I don't particularly like the swap from a contract or player standpoint(big for small), if Mo isn't going to be able to crawl out from the doghouse, then that's just 9 mil a year wasted. Plus it'd be cool to clear out any connection to the pre-Yao club.

What if he is? What an amazing trade that would be. I'm not saying he is or it will, but what if? Would that make the Rockets instant contenders? What do you do with Sura? or Strickland? or Barett? or Ward? or Maloney? (Hey, they're still paying the guy. They should at least get the chance to cut him again)

If it was to happen for some odd reason, it would be a good day.

In response to the Jason Kidd rumor...I'm not sure I do this trade in a 'heartbeat'...Kidd would cost us twice as much as MoT for twice as long...along with a 1st round pick.

    Kidd's contract IS LARGE...

    $14.8M (04-05), $16.4M (05-06), $18M (06-07), $19.7M (07-08), $21.3M (08-09)

Kidd's contract coupled with McGrady's, I'm not sure if we could offer Yao the max (or close to it) at season's end.

Yes we can. Les's going to make money in China. Kidd+Mac+Yao+bunc of white 35+ year olds is going to cut it.

I believe we could offer Yao the max even with kidd because we retain his bird rights. but we'd cripple the flexibility of the franchise to get any decent role players around a trio of yao/kidd/tracy. I'd much rather just do a Taylor for DA trade straight up I've always liked DA since his days of a clipper. + I think NJ likes the possibilities of a Kidd/Carter/RJ combo of next year.

If this has any truth to it I would pull the trade with the emergence of Padgett and the improved production from Howard in the past month Taylor has become a redundant player for us. DA can give tracy some minutes to rest and also add some size to our backcourt. Plus we'd have another player that can pass, shoot and create his own shot.

Then in the offseason use the MLE to try to get Swift or Chandler.

I think I like the trade but what worries me is DA's condition right now. I guess he's having a surgery for sinus infection.Anybody knows his status right now? or he's just brought in to the dog house like Mo?

I personally wouldn't do any Kidd trade. I really can not beleive that it is remotely possible any way. His contract and aging legs would seriously hamper the franchise for too many years IMO. Much more than Taylor would.

I would absolutely do the Taylor for Anderson swap in a heartbeat. If Portland is open to that deal, DO IT NOW! Then swap Spoon+future 1st+2nd for D. Marshall, and you got yourself a squad.

    Hell why not a three-teamer:

    Houston trade: Taylor/Spoon/future 1st/2nd
    Houston gets: Anderson/Marshall

    Portland trades: Abdur-Rahim/Stoudemire/Anderson/1st
    Portland gets: Taylor/Rose/Mourning/Alston

    Toronto trade: Rose/Mourning/Marshall/Alston
    Toronto gets: Spoon/Abdur-Rahim/Stoudemire/1st/future 1st/2nd
