Daniels is not a defensive player. But I think he's a better back up for both guard positions than Mooch.

allow me to break it down:

what you saw was bwen forcing kobe to take what appeared to be tougher shots than he usually takes. the problem is that those are not tought shots for kobe bryant. those are 100% makeable shots. i've said it too many times now:

the "perimeter stopper" is a myth like the freakin' unicorn.

great scorers cannot be "stopped" by a perimeter defender that cannot play a lick of offense. how many times must we see this proven before people begin to accept it as fact???

The idea of defending a great scorer at any position is not to stop him or even reduce his scoring. It is to make him work harder for his points, to frustrate him, to wear him down, and to hope that the probability of him committing offensive foul goes up. How successful that can be really depends. But the defensive ability of the defender does make a difference.

If there's nothing defensively you can do on the great scorers, then people might just as well give up when they play one of these guys.

Having said that, I agree that good perimeter offense is more important than good perimeter defense b/c good offense will make the great scorer of the other team work harder on the defensive end.
