I agree that they are similar to the Kings, however the Kings did have a superstar. Anyone who doesn't think Chris Webber was a superstar is dumb. If Yao can come back close to what he was, then he is certainly a superstar as well, but we will have to wait and see about that.

I'm not sure why everyone is saying Weber wasn't a superstar during those prime Kings years. You guys are aware that in 2000-2001 he averaged 27 ppg, 11 rebounds per game, and was 4th in MVP voting right? And in 2001-2002 he averaged 24 ppg and 10 rebounds. He was a legit superstar then. To say that Kings team had no legit superstar is not realistic.

Also, doing straight position-by-position comparisons is pointless. That Kings team was great because they had players fit special roles. Perfect example is Vlade Divac, who if you go by stats was nothing special, but was the absolute perfect fit for the offense they were running.

Not saying the Rockets can't be that good, they can be, but let's not lose our heads her with stuff like Yao > Divac. It's a silly comparison. Divac played his role perfectly. Will Yao play his role perfectly? We'll see.

Totally agree- there's alot of flexibility and Morey has assembled a very interesting group- I like Adelman but I really don't see his approach working with Yao.

Yao that can put up 25/12 needs to be in a half court set positioned low in the post, there has to be someone who can get the entry pass down early to the big fellow and there has to be good spacing and some good 3 pt shooters.

Yao is not quick but he is tall and powerful and has superb touch on that short fade away and the sky hook.

With the players Morey has assembled Brad Miller would look better playing away from the basket if we have a PF, SF, and SG who can all rebound.

Realistically I can see us 6-8 seed depending on chemistry with Yao.

But I don't think we have strong enouhg paint and rim defense to beat Orlando, Boston, Miami, or the Lakers-

With the ??? about Yao's ability to play full seasons going forward and how well he plays post surgery I think we need to draft a future superstar...somehow-

The rest of the pieces are pretty nice.

Foot problems have ended a lot of people's career. Bill Walton was one.

True. Foot injuries can be just as bad. Ask Bill Walton.

Are you saying that Kevin Martin is Doug Cristie?

It's kind of hard to compare our current team to 2001 Sacramento team because they have not done anything yet. They have not even play a single game together. BUT I see the similarities. Most of the time, teams look really good on paper but always come up short to winning it all. Old Sac was a heck of a team and so our current team. Everything will come down to health issue, IMO. As a diehard fan, I am just excited to start the season, hope that our players stay healthy and see where we at.
