    What are his coaching credentials?

All I know about him, as a coach, is that the players like him and Kobe was endorsing him as the successor to Phil Jackson.

He obviously has ample experience coaching with one of the greatest of all time. I guess that should count for something.

But as an assistant, what have his responsibilities been?

Agreed! The Laker are about rings from top to bottom. Even with an aging roster, they will take and make steps to get high end players in the buildin and pay them.

IIRC Shaw's main responsibility is advanced scouting.

    What's an advanced scout?

I asked him that question because he thought Frank Hamblen was Brian Shaw. I don't know much about Shaw as a coach, but I vividly remember him from his playing days -- which is why I asked how long he had been watching the NBA. I didn't mean to come off as talking down, it was an honest question.

I think what he was saying is that Brian Shaw isn't the number 1 assistant with the Lakers; its some other guy who's name he couldn't recall (Frank Hamblen).

Yeah? Well MJ, Pippen and all the Bulls back in the 90's loved Jim Clemmons. Ask the Mavs how well that turned out for them.

kobe backed shaw for the job in la. have to believe that shaw's #1 choice is LA... but what if adelman wants the job? i think kobe would be ok with that and you have to believe dr buss would rather a HOF coach than a first year coach.

shaw may be available for the rockets. i believe its between casey and frank. i think both have accomplished more as coaches and are more seasoned than shaw.
