I don't know Jose so I can't vouch for him. But I do have a friend in DC who is a long time Wizards fan and has some connections and I called him about the Butler, knicks deal to see if it had any meat to it. And he said he hadn't heard anything accept the rumors that we read here. But he did say he was told the Cavs really want Jamison. But the Wiz said no to that offer. Of course that doesn't mean Jose is telling the truth. He does seem to be backtracking a bit. But it is a bit of a coincidence since I heard that before I read this. Anyway take it for what it's worth.
I think Butler can be a really good third or fourth option on a championship-caliber team. Like a Rashard Lewis but for much, much less money. If the Rockets can get Butler without losing anyone else besides McGrady, it still leaves Morey with enough flexibility to make a major trade in the off season or next year for a first option guy. But adding just Butler (and Haywood) won't be enough IMO.
This is my thought on Caron, albeit an unfair and not really analytical... If the Lakers didn't want him, why would I want him on my team? To me, a player who can't fit on a winning team but flourishes on a bad team is a yellow light of caution. The triangle and the princeton both emphasize on ball movement and movement without the ball, and I remember hearing Caron didn't really fit the triangle offense. Not saying outright he'd struggle here, but it just makes me wonder. That's all. I already said in my 1st post that I hope we're flipping Caron for something better.
While I am not a fan of this trade, it gives us the most competitive team possible while still being ready for the new CBA.
This isn't a tournament. Morey is on pokerstars.net and is playing multiple hands. In the hand with NY and Washington, it's still early. I'd say that they've just had the flop and Morey is checking. Besides have you seen Rounders? Matt Damon went check, check, check, and then won the whole thing against Teddy KGB.
i'm starting to lose a little faith in butler as well, i don't think he can be the second fiddle to Yao, but he did average around 20ppg from 2006-2009, and averaging 16ppg this year, and he played with 2 other scorers jamison and arenas. sometimes, and often, he was the best player on that team, so i know he can play, but i'm not quite sure i'd put him in the 2nd tier level of players. if we trade away AB or Landry, we're still gonna have the same problem, not enough scorers. we really need to get some players who are young and have an upside, nick young would be great, he could start at the 2 right from the get go. Iggy's deal i read is dead, so it looks like butler is probably the best we can get for mac's contract, or we could let it expire and sign a player or two next year.
BAH! You spoiled it for me. It is literally the next movie in my netflix queue! Thanks for spoiling a 12 year old movie.
It depends upon what he agreed to, if he agreed to release him as part of thise deal, then he needs to hold to his word, so other GM's respect him. DD
I also frankly think Z would raise a massive stink and would quit on the team if he was traded to Houston and realized he would be playing for them and not finishing his career out in Cleveland. He wants to stay there. Period.
Lakers during Kwame Brown years: 87-77 Washington during the same period: 83-81 Obviously, the Lakers solved all their problems by getting rid of Butler. And they simply went on a rampage with their newfound superstar center Kwame Brown.
So we get Jamison (who would be our go to guy and the best player we get in this trade) we turn him over to the Cavs for nothing but tax relief? And the Cavs get their man for nothing? I really hope this isn't true.
Jose, I believe you reported what you heard accurately. That doesn't mean it will eventuate as you heard it; too many deals fall apart or get tweaked or or or at late hours. Won't it be nice to reach the 19th when we can all be friends again?
