We cant match Favors + Expirings.. They are wanting too much they want the big package along with shredding a lot of salary.
So what make this guy more credible than anyone else? Seems to be just another so called analyst talking.
Exactly. This isn't even thread worthy. Look at how many reports keep coming out each day. Melo doesn't want NJ, DEN wants NJ trade, Melo wants NJ, DEN doesn't want NJ trade. The fact that its being reported that we are "out", probably means we got even closer to a deal.
seeing how this guy was the one who mentioned Houston initially in the Melo Sweepstakes I would say people here believed him then probably should believe him now
I personally don't believe in any of these supposed insiders. All these idiots have been wrong about almost everything since the offseason started.
Well it said could back in it if the process stretches out any longer. From all reports it looks like Melo will not be traded anytime soon. Wouldn't be shocked if they just panicked and unloaded him before the deadline.
No. We can match and trump the Favors + Expirings.....we're just not willing to trump the offer by enough to make Denver do the deal. Denver is trying to manipulate Morey into paying more and Morey is not having it. He knows his limits and he wants to save a pick to use in another deal if need be. Our expirings plus Budinger plus Brooks (or whatever he brings from a third team) plus Hill or Patterson plus one of NY's picks trumps Favors plus expirings plus the Warriors pick. The Warriors pick is top 7 protected. Therefore, at best the Nets deal is a #3 and a #7 and both are unproven. We can offer them a true lottery pick plus already proven young talent. If the 2009 and 2007 drafts were held today, Budinger would be a top 12 pick, and Brooks would be a top 6-8 pick. So, the difference in the deal we are probably putting on the table is a proven 6-8 pick (Brooks), plus a proven 10-12 pick(Budinger) plus an unproven 8 pick (Hill) plus a future lottery pick plus expirings as compared to NJ's unproven #3 pick(Favors) and unproven future 7 pick at best that could potentially down to mid-round first round pick plus expirings. Denver is doing their best to squeeze every ounce of value out of Melo. They're either going to swing for the fence with Favors or they are going to take the better bucketload of talent from us.
I think its time to stop calling every single ESPN NBA beat writer "insiders". They havent got one thing right this whole offseason. They are being fed false stories to play sides against each other by the players. In the process i have lost all feeling of giving any of them credibility in any rumor or breaking news potential. Might as well stick to local websites. They break stories before these guys.
It might be time for Morey to sell back those picks to the Knicks for Randolph and taking back Jared Jefferies.
Chris Mannix doesnt work for ESPN. Works for SI. He is the same reason there was a 76+ page thread here http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=191745 and well..even though it's from Yahoo, I oughta give credit to him for the 100+ page sticky thread at the top of the GARM. Oh well. As others have said, time to play ball with who we got.
I think we should do another deal involving those Knicks picks and ours for a lesser star and add him to Brooks, Martin, Yao, Scola and taking very little hit by pffering back only scubs to match the money on the contract and some role players. Say like Iggoudala or someone else who wants draft picks. We need a SF but it doesnt have to be Carmeloand it doesnt have to be Knicks. We could move on and make another offer for someone else to replace Battier at that position. Alot of options to upgrade and go 5 deep at the starters position of real solid player. Budinger can also even grow more as a player. Sell high or lose very little in the future while gaining even more quality players back. You can win without stars if your team is stacked.
