Morey believes in 3pt shooting, so he needs to get some good 3pt shooters. We don't need another star.

A 3rd star? How about a 2nd star? Anyone who thinks Dwight Howard is a star at this point is delusional.

His only elite skill is rim protection, which is now becoming more obsolete in today's league where everyone is either already shooting threes or learning how to shoot threes. The Hawks game was a perfect example.

    I know, right?

    That had me cracking up.

"If we only had a that 4-time scoring champ that won the MVP a year and a half ago, we'd improve our chances."

Next he'll tell us that the Rockets should employ a strategy where they try to have more points than their opponent at the end of regulation.

    This is really misguided.

Dwight is an elite rim protector, man defender, rebounder, one of the best shotblockers, one of the best big men for PNR, and still one of the best scorers at the C position. Come playoff time he ups his game significantly. He cheers on his team without an ounce of ego despite his seniority.

Teams are taking more 3's yes but that's replacing mid range shots far more than shots at the rim. Teams will attack the rim as a first option and Dwight is taking away that option. Anyone would rather let the other team beat them with 3's than with 2's at the rim.

He's not the super super star he once was but he wins his position almost every game. That's a HUGE deal.

The only reason he's not looking even more dominant defensively is because this team is leaking drives to the basket like crazy. Every night one of the opposing wing players wrecks us. His teammates are incredibly incompetent at finding him when he has his man pinned down, which is very often.

We are not getting anyone near his impact level through trade, absolutely no chance. Of course he has flaws, there are barely any players without flaws. Now that he has stopped demanding isolation post ups, the only flaw in his game is FT's and that's something that has always been a problem with him and didn't stop him from taking a team to the finals and being one of the best players in the league. It certainly won't stop him from being an awesome defensive anchor and offensive demolition man.

He is not only a leader, he is the Master of Arts in Servant Leadership at Viterbo. Which begs the question, why do servants need leaders? Either way, he seems like the man for the job.

what about team play? whats the poitn of a 3rd star player if they're gonna play iso ball for 40 minutes a game, then in short spurts team ball for 8 minutes a game? no ones gonna defend or box out. a 3rd star wont make this team a contender.

Agreed, but why say we need one or the other when we really need both, a 3rd star and better coaching. The 3rd star was supposed to be Ty Lawson and unfortunately that experience did not work out. Morey now has to force JB to give Lawson more playing time to increase his value and then trade him intelligently. Intelligently does not mean for a bargain like the Lawson deal was supposed to be. Houston may have to take on more years in a contract to get the needed talent. Meaning Morey may have put himself out of the Kevin Durant sweepstakes unless he basically tanks this season, which still from KD's perspective puts him out of the Kevin Durant sweepstakes. JB Bickerstaff can help us in a year or 2 from now, but right now we more authority than can be provided by him or was provided by McHale.
