For those of y'all complaining about the team making no moves to escape mediocrity- we had a deal in place for Gasol and probably would have signed Nene afterwards. That deal was reneged by Stern through no fault of anyone in Rockets management. In fact, it's the Rockets' fault for negotiating a deal so good for them, that Stern found it necessary to revoke it in favor of a better deal.

You want to hate on management for being too good at negotiating trades? You want to hate someone for f***ing our season? Hate Stern.

I hate how ridiculously predictable this all was. Like the Yao situation all over again...you can see it coming from a million miles away. 3 consecutive years of finishing right at the same spot. Unreal...yet entirely predictable.

You predicted a 6-game losing streak against all the direct competitors for a playoff spot?

No...but that this team would finish roughly where they've finished when it was all said and done...absolutely.

Yeah, true. Either just into the playoffs or just out of the playoffs. This was the first season I seriously considered tanking. Then I hoped we would just get into the playoffs and maybe manage an upset or two. The outcome we got is the worst possible one :(.

Knew this season would end with 15th pick or 1st round playoffs exit, that's why I supported the tanking idea. Now we have another BS year, only good thing is that this draft is actually pretty deep and we have at least two picks.

We will end up with neither this year, unless it's through NY's draft pick.

For the last 3-4 years i have barely missed a rockets game on my league pass, but I am so upset, ashamed and disappointed with the team during this pathetic collapse that I haven't watched the last 4 games... I just can't stomach it or handle the disappointment anymore.

See you all next season, I love the franchise, hate where it's at right now

Nolen - if you look at that trade and free agent signing in retrospect, it doesn't look very good at all.

We would have lost Dragic - the best PG this team has seen in years, we would have signed Nene for 4 years at a time in which he has fallen off the map, and we would be stradled with Gasol's contract......actually that is not too bad for his production.

That deal was not all that great in hindsight......so Stern actually may have done this team a favor.

    Nene sucks
Gasol didn't want to be here
    We keep Dragic & Scola....

My main point is this- fans are upset that management hasn't tried to get us off the mediocrity treadmill. The aborted trade shows that to not be the case. Now, hindsight shows us clearly that Dragic is NOT filler in that trade, which he was back then- Scola and Martin were the headliners. Many of us here would rather lose Martin than Dragic now.

In my opinion, there is no way a team of Lowry, Lee, Parsons, Gasol, Nene misses the playoffs. Even if Gasol and Nene don't perform up to their contracts (and I think Gasol does/would), the commitment is 3-4 years, not six.

I think that is an unwinnable argument from both sides.

I do agree management has been TRYING to make a trade, but I also think Morey hoards his assets, and needs to maybe lose on a trade today to win in the future.

I think DM knows what is best, but it is not easy going the route that Les wants to go, so it will be interesting to see the roster come October.

Yes. I really do think that Morey has been trying to make trades and sign major players, and I think he knows best. IMO his trade history is excellent.

However, at the same time, this 'no tanking' thing is kind of hard for me to swallow now. Having followed the Rockets since the championship years, I have never ever once considered the thought of tanking... but this year... yeah. The end result we have now is hard to swallow.

Morey either overpays for All Star talent (as one must) and we would have lost Dragic in getting Gasol and Nene, and Morey, in other transactions, keeps trying to get $1.25 on the $1.00 for his players. ("But Courtney Lee for his production on both ends of the floor is worth etc etc in my computations, and I....hello? Hello?")

OH well...wasn't expecting them to make it anyway. This team needs star power.

But we would have had Lin still whom you've repeatedly bashed Morey for letting go. I'll agree with you that the argument isn't winnable on either side though. In retrospect, the trade hurts them in certain aspects but it also helps them in others. No real way of telling what the true outcome would have been. However we do know where they are now and where they have been with the current roster.
