Brooklyn, Toronto, New Orleans, and Cleveland were all worse defensive teams than Dallas this season.
Let's be fair here, guys. The Mavericks... they're not a very good team over there. Game 3 has skewed the ratings. The Mavs are bad at defense. Their defense is so bad that it is contagious. (See game 3.)
Inflated numbers against a really ****ty defensive team that features Dirk Nowitzki. Dirk is a disaster when it comes to defense.
I'd like to think our poor defense is a result of the Rockets not taking the Mavs seriously. Because they have no chance against the Spurs or Clips playing this lackadsical defense.
It's a neat stat, but really just a novelty until Rockets play a team that can actually defend. In particular, there aren't any teams left in the playoffs with as weak a PF pnr defender as Nowitzski.
As much as people are downplaying our defensive effectiveness, let's not forget how Howard and company have commanded the paint defensively. I didn't see a lot of layups from the Mavs. This allowed our guys to conserve energy on D and be effective on offense. Who doesn't love the way this rockets team plays? Raining threes, dunks galore, and Harden doing his Harden two step. Rox for life!
We are the worst defensive team by far and it's very disappointing we are going back to old ways of trying to out shoot the opponent. We have to show up defensively on Tuesday, if not, I hope we lose. Offensively, can people finally give the Rockets credit for their offense through 3 games? This 4th one showed that you actually have to make shots and get efficient shots, so even against Dallas, that's obviously not that easy to do for this freestyle offense of Houston. Give credit to our offense and hope we step up on defense!
