Of course they wouldn't have won if they had kept playing the way they did. I think just about everyone knows that. But anyone who has been watching the Rockets play lately knew they were going to get back into the game in that 2nd half. There was no way in my mind that we were going to lose that game by more than 6 or 8 points. ------------------
I knew the Rockets would win. I'm just sorry some communists on this board won't let me blow sunshine up everybody's asses. I didn't flame anybody did I? Did I lie? Did you guys not eat crow? You overreacted. The Rockets won. Believe. ------------------ The Rockets will be the NBA champions. Believe.
I don't blame anyone for thinking the Rockets weren't going to come back. Those comebacks were nice, but against league bottom-feeders. This was the best team in the west, and probably the league. I actually thought the Rockets would make a run, but that was not from basketball sense. I just had a feeling. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
How am I sposta eat crow? All I did was state the Rockets problem and what I thought they needed to do to win... If I didn't think they could do it, would I bother to state how they could win??? Again, tell me when I said it wouldn't happen? Everyone here assumes because you say one HONEST thing, that you are all of a sudden the most negative person in the world... ------------------ Check out my homepage! No, only if you're a jackass that says we're choking when we have an 18 point lead in a game. Yes, that would be you, Tweak. It is our right to ignore you. Craving some attention, are we, Tweak? I notice you run when people put you on ignore. That's always fun to watch. Just to clarify this misconception: No, we don't have any psychic radar that knows whether or not you'll be cheery or not on any given night. Then it's unanimous, because everybody else was glad you left the chat, too. It's even more fun to watch how you make a fool of yourself every game on this BBS and its archived for all history. Do come back to chat again because we'd like to continue ignoring you. Watching you run like a malcontent, 4 year old because no one will respond to you or can hear you in chat is kinda fun... ------------------ "Yes, you can touch me." -- Rocketman95 showing he's not only a liberal, but he's pretty liberal with his body... I don't make this stuff up folks, they really say it...
Kidrock/ZRB Again, the original post dealt with the fact the Rockets "big men" weren't going to the bucket. They didn't in the 2nd half either. Face it, the Rockets are a guard oriented team. For the most part, when the guards are not playing/shooting well, the Rockets don't play well. Similar to the days when the Rockets were a front court oriented team. Personally, I don't care what the final stats show with respect to rebounds for Taylor, points for Cato, shoorting pct. for Thomas, etc., as long as the final outcome is a win. ------------------
Do you even remember what you wrote? You weren't honest, you didn't state how the Rockets could win, you said the Rockets were sissies and Mo Taylor would be more comfortable in a dress. You spoke to quickly and got called on it. Lets quit with the "I'm being oppressed" routine, shall we? ------------------ The Rockets will be the NBA champions. Believe.
bobrek-Our big men made a better % of their layups inside, and also did a better job of scoring... You're right, Cuttino and Stevie ran s#it, but the front court also stepped up in the 2nd half... The big men weren't aggresive when they did have the ball, but in the 2nd half, they didn't care who was guarding them, they were going to take it to the rack... ------------------ Check out my homepage! kidrock, You were just wrong. It's obvious to everyone. Give it up. BTW, I don't think that you could really teach Rudy anything.
Cohen-What am I wrong about??? Please enlighten me... Everyone says I'm wrong, but they don't know what it is I was "wrong" about... Was I wrong that they played poorly in the 1st half??? That's all I said... I also said they needed to be more aggresive... Was I wrong??? ------------------ "Awesome baby!" Dick Vitale
Of course I leave when I am put on ignore. If you can't talk with people on the chat, you're not actually chatting are you. Most of the times I have said the Rockets are choking leads, THEY ACTUALLY HAVE. You guys can't stand the truth. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
No skill? He has some of the best footwork on this team. BTW we outrebounded the Spurs by one so what does that make the Spurs if a bunch of heartless pansies outrebounded them. Didn't you notice the refs weren't calling many fouls in this game? They were letting the players play so if Mo decided to attack the paint he'd more than likely get the ball stuffed back in his grill with no call. The refs were letting them play. If we attacked the bucket the towers would have eaten us alive. Did you watch the game? I dont remember Malike Rose and Walker getting much playing time. I dont know the numbers for the first half but for the game they played 15 minutes combined. That's true, but the second half did show that if those guys/positions are involved, the Rockets look like champs. The movement was amazing! If Cuttino and Mobley are the only ones who go off and no one else gets involved (for example, Mo and Bull), we lose this game. I think Popovich would have been very happy if our guards had gone off -- the same way we were happy that Duncan got his... while everyone else stood around. ------------------
Most of those were valid criticisms of the first half. I disagree on Kenny Thomas having no skill, but how can you argue against those first half points. The Rockets went and did the exact opposite of those in the second half, and they won. By driving to the hoop, they started to get more respect from the refs. How many three point plays off of layups did the Rockets get in the second half? The original post, as well as my reply, contained valid criticisms of the first half; however, we both left open the possibility of the Rockets changing their style of play in the second, and coming back. And they did, leading to a fantastic win. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
Where were you after the Indiana game? ------------------ Forget LHutz, Bob Rainey is by far the coolest poster in cc.net history!
Jesus, Tweak, you of all people should realize that negative posters don't necesarily get ignored, and most don't get thrown out, especially if they are telling the truth. They usually just get yelled at. But there comes a point when it goes beyond normal criticism, and it is just a whniny malcontent who wants attention. I think the main point that needs to be addressed here is not whether or not the original ciriticism's were accurate or not, but where you, Tweak, and kidrock decided to vent them. What do you think the chat is for? It doesn't take up the precious BBS space, and it doesn't live forever in the archives to muddle things up pointlessly. Tweak has been warned repeatedly not to use the BBS for game-time commentary. Kidrock, you would be advised to listen to those warnings. And Tweak, you should have known better than to partake in this ridiculous discussion. ------------------ "all your base are belong to us!" "you have no chance to survive make your time!" You can't pretend that's what you wrote, its in brilliant black and white for all the world to see. This is what you wrote, I'll point out what you got wrong : I'm tired of seeing our "big" men getting their asses handed to them game in and game out(This is wrong, the improved play of our big men was on of the primary reasons the Rockets have gone 16-4 and back into the playoff race)... It's about time they show some fire and smack their opponents in the mouth... The rebounding has been atrocious(Wrong again, the rebounding margin at this point was negligible, it was the inability of anyone besides Mo to score consistently)... We have NO HEART whatsoever from our PF's & C's(Wrong, see Rogers, Carlos.)... Sure KT tries, but he has no game or skill so don't expect more than a couple accidental rebounds from him...(Wrong, KT is skilled, but undersized and often fails to finish once he gets to the rack, in fact his rebounding is well above average) Mo Taylor is the 6-9 260 lb. PF who would be better suited to wearing a dress than a basketball jersey(I don't know if you've seen Mo, but he'd look horrible in a dress)... What the hell is he doing, firing 20 ft jumpers??? Why don't you try and draw some fouls on the Twin Towers???(Wrong, the referees weren't calling fouls inside early on San Antonio, so anything he took inside would have been blocked, he can consistently hit that jumper and force one of the 7-footers out of the lane. Plus, Mo's offense is the only thing that kept us in this game) The Rockets are the most asinine team when it comes to playing in the other team's hands... Obviously our shooting is crappy, so why not take it to the bucket?(Because anything they took to the rack early got blocked, and they weren't calling fouls on our drives, so driving to the lane was useless when they tried it) Rockets are a bunch of pansies who seem to not care that their getting their pride taken away by them from the likes of Malik Rose and Samaki Walker...(Malik Rose and Samaki Walker played a grand total of 15 minutes and scored 4 pts and had 5 rebs. Whoa, somebody stop them) God, we need some testicular fortitude on this team...Do I even have to address this We roll over and die to any team who has a better record than us... It's embarrasing how often the Rockets don't bother to show up... The Rockets won. No where in that post was there any mention of the Rockets play in the first half. In fact it was a general condemnation of the Rockets as a whole. There was no mention of what the Rockets could do better, and no helpful hints for Rudy T. It was just Tweak-like overreaction, and you got called on it. Enough. You don't believe, neither you nor Tweak. ------------------ The Rockets will be the NBA champions. Believe.
That was part of my original post. You can clearly read that I thought the Rockets would make a run in the second half. Don't talk about threads like this taking up valuable space when these crappy threads have been started tonight: "Call out: We believe!" "Where are the Jack-Francis posts?" "We beat those b****es" "Sunshine asses throw monkey off their back" "Believe" I don't see those threads being ripped into as much as this one. Most of those are completely pointless, while this thread contains valid criticisms of the first half of this game. Don't call me a non-believer or a fair weather fan. I'm a more dedicated fan than you could ever know. Still, I am not afraid to criticize. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
"We beat those b****es" did get some criticism. Also positive garbage is better than negative garbage. I'm assuming that the majority of cc.net lurkers and posters all want to see the Rockets win, we're fine with ppl getting excited about a win, we're not fine with ppl constantly being negative and acting like they enjoy being right and seeing the rockets lose than being wrong and seeing them win. My evidence for this is when we lost to the Suns. ALOT more ppl were posting in threads spewing their negative bs talking about how Rudy is a horrible coach and Moochie sucks and Cat sucks and Walt sucks etc. Where were these ppl when Moochie won that Indiana game for us? Nowhere to be found. I guarantee when the Rockets lose again these ppl will come out of hiding and bash Rudy once again as if they forgot we've won 16 of our last 20 games. We beat the freaking Spurs for crying out loud! What do we hear from the negative posters? "Wow, we won one game against a good team, blah blah blah, we still can't beat Portland or Sacramento or Utah blah blah blah, this team will be good when they do this and that, but when they do this and that I'll think of something new that they haven't done yet" Why can't you just talk about the positives of this game instead of the negatives? Positives: 1. The Rockets showed that they can play with the big boys. 2. Francis is actually demanding the ball in crunch time, a sign of a true leader. 3. Bullard is back just in time for our push into the playoffs. 4. After each game this team seems more and more like a team of destiny. 5. Cat has been cutting down on his crazy heaves. 6. Cato's actually playing decent! 7. We're getting love from ESPN! But who cares about the positives. Let's just focus on how the Rockets played bad in the first half of a game that we won against the top team in the western conference who's owned us for years.
