The fact that his other 4 players on the court with him are nothing but 3 point shooters, make it easier for him. Because teams can't double him otherwise the Magic will get an easy 3. And c'mon What are you going to give up a high % 3 pointer? Or a possible lower % 2?

This is not brain science. Considering the fact that Howard doesn't even close to the amount of double teams that Yao faces. Does Howard faces double teams? Yes he does, but not as much as Yao does. Especially when Yao is more of a perimeter finesse oriented center anyways. Howard relies on playing inside the paint like a Shaq, which is not smart because in my opinion his game is actually more finesse than power.

Yao is limited. When you unpack that, then i'll tell you what it means.

Since you didnt want to unpack "yao is limited" i'll go back to this earlier quote and i'll allow you to play coach even though i dont think you'veplayed much basketball. Coach shake is playing against player b. Player b is really good around the rim and in the paint area, but doesnt venture too far from there. Player B is surrounded by multi-talented players that can shoot 3's fairly well. Should coach shake try to stop player b who will either dunk the ball or jump hook from 5ft or double player b and make his teammates whoot from 24 ft?

He probably would be taking more shots if he was given the chance. Sometimes it's the defense that's holding Yao back, sometimes it's the players who aren't smart enough to get him the ball.

I am not a fan of RA's system at all, I believe it is very easy to beat especially when you are Phil Jackson, when (Phil Jackson) out-coached him ever since he started coaching.

Rockets have no shot at taking out the Lakers if RA is the coach, I am sorry to say. I just believe his system is very flawed, especially when he doesn't mix up his gameplan, he's really not much different than JVG except he is less restricted.

It absolutely has a lot to do with adelman. Adelman lets his players play undisciplined basketball. He's a "players coach" remember? As a result, every scrub on the team feels he has free reign to heat check and basically jack up bad shots with no repercussion. See: Wafer and Ron. This in turn leads to less shots for Yao. Pretty simple actually.

agree, completely, although his size is an asset, it's also a liability.

So Wafer and Ron are scrubs.

Wafer doesnt jack up shots with no repercussion. He has been pulled when he has been a bit out of control before. Most of his shots are within the flow of the offense. And many that would be considered bad come when the shot clock is winding down. Any spot up 3 that he takes after a kickout is a shot that is within the offense. He is a scorer, a shooting guard. He is supposed to shoot.

And Artest is our STARTING shooting guard.

Lol, I know seriously. Patrick Ewing was a limited player himself as well he has similarities to Yao, not completely but had some. Duncan is a limited player too,

Big men are not suppose to be unlimited players like a Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, LeBron James.

Obviously, some of you do not understand science very well. It is not very easy to jump with a high vertical being over 270+ pounds, you can go ask Dwight Howard that too.

If we can get Yao 20+ points in every single playoffs game, we can win the Champ? It's reachable!!

IBM, it started with Shake sarcastically saying dream couldnt score 20 against the type of defenses today. I replied if howard could avg 22 or so, dream would drop 25-30. He returned and talked about how howard is double but not as much as yao because he has a plethera of shooters. i responded that yao is limited. He didnt answer and by now you should no that its not a derogotory word. What i mean is that yao is very limited in the range or variety of ways he can score. He's a very effective player, but you cant just run a offense without him being the axis of it and he remains effective. Now in no way am i saying run the offense away from him, i'm saying with his poor stamina and limited scoring chances, every point for yao is a battle to say.

For instance, howard can grab the rebound, kickout, run the floor, and get a easy dunk. The magic can run a pnr and with a 1 false step, the guy can throw it over everyone head and howard go dunk it. When teams do single him, he's very aggressive going to the hole and drawing fouls. Then of course, the offensive rebounds and short shots off penetration. Yao,most get his points off post up and offensive rebounds. Even the stats show he's assisted on 65% of his baskets, he's still guy that gets mots of his points off postup, some off rebounds and some off ft's. Its not a terrible or bad thing, its just a thing.

As long as Yao keeps OWNING Howard when they play each other, that's all that matters.

    Howard = Yao's Jailhouse BIATCH

    pretty a piece of ****.

how many times can Brooks score 30 or more points in a season? how many times can Yao score 20 or more points in a season?

When when Brooks scores 30 or more points, we are 100%. When Hayes scores 12 or more points, we are 100%.

so what's your conclusion? every night the Rockets should put Brooks scoring 30 or more points as the priority, while he can only do it once in 20 games? or passing all the balls to Hayes? Maybe passing the balls to Hayes is a better idea. ;) As long as Hayes gets 30 or more shoots every night, he can easily achieve 15 points. what a wonderful logic :D

or Rockets should let Yao attempt as many 3s as possible? Rockets are 100% when Yao hits a 3.

Your post made me think you actually dont understand our current offensive strategy at all...

Maybe you never play b-ball, you are just simply ignoring the vast openness it creates everytime Yao gets the ball.

Yao should get Olajuwon's numbers when it comes to touches and shot attempts. However, the passes should be crisp and high enough so not those around the ankles that they throw a couple of times a game and not those rainbow passes that take so long. Just a straight pass that Yao can work with. Then what they need to do is communicate, most of the time the double-team comes and nobody warants Yao or is too late. The zone is what made it harder for big men but still the offense should go 90% through Yao.

Of course it's up to Yao to split double-teams, make a quick decision and be more assertive. Last year he did a lot of fakes, turnaround jumpers, quick spin moves etc. I haven't seen that very much this year, he defers more to teammates and is being too unselfish most of the time. So the team needs to pass it to him and Yao needs to make moves to get the ball in the hole, it's that simple. If that means getting him to the high post shooting a three occasionally, that's okay because he has proven he can hit it and RA gives him the green light so go ahead. YAO FOR THREE !!! :)

The only problem with that is that Yao is def. not condition well enough to get the shot attempts as Hakeem did. If you do expect him to do that, you shouldn't expect him to show up on the other end.

Not to mention, you have to add the other variables like double teams, fronting and all that. If everybody played Yao 1 on 1, then Yes It would be a piece of cake getting Yao 20+ shots every night.

It's just that the defenses are different now-a-days then it was in the Hakeem ERA.
