well if we were to go for tanking then i think we definitely should play T-will and see if we do have a great player in the making

it would seriously help us in get an idea for the draft

This season is lost. It's time to tank. I hope that the Rockets do the right thing at the trading deadline to get rid of contracts and acquire assets for the future.

I just don't trust any of the players in this draft to become superstars in the NBA. Terrence Jones definitely has the abilities and the "it's on me" mindset, but he does not seem to make his teammates better on his team. I could see Perry Jones becoming some version of Granger/Dirk, but I just have doubts it will happen.

I had huge hopes for Harrison Barnes, but I'm just not sure about him. He has definitely played better the past few weeks. Hopefully he keeps that up. But, early in the season he seemed unwilling to take that team on his back, and was not letting the game come to him naturally.

I honestly feel that if he is looking at falling out of the Top 10 picks, he will return for a Sophomore year. I don't think that will happen though, because he is one of those players who will have all the measurables, so his stock will likely rise during work outs after the season.

The chances of us being in the top 5 lottery slots are slim but we can still get in the 7-10 range, where we can hope a guy slips out of the top 5 and lands to us.

One thing to keep in mind, before judging the players in this draft, is that this is a very young draft.. (the youngest since the high school to college rule was put in place)

The majority of the freshman in this draft are practically two years younger than the freshmen in last years draft..

A lot of them are barely turning 19 this year... so patience will be required for pretty much any freshmen we might draft..

Also I don't think production(at a college level) should take high emphasis when trying to analyse the potential in some of these freshmen. But instead people should focus on what attributes and particular skills of their games will best translate to the NBA and what will not...

I do. We aren't getting a superstar in the draft. Mine as well fight for a playoff spot so we can at least look attractive to free agents that want to go on a winning team.

Why the obsession with Jimmer Fredette? We know what happens to unathletic one-dimensional shooters who are playing out of position (JJ Redick). Not to mention Redick was far more dominant in superior competition in college.

Yeah a team that gets swept in the 1st round is a very attractive place for Super Star free-agents!!

I can see it now, one of either Chris paul, Deron Williams or D. Howard leave their ball clubs of 50+ wins, to join our team that's in even worser position then the team their currently in..

    Solid Idea friend! :)

Oh but going to the lottery every year for a LATE 1st round lottery pick while building a loser mentality is better? Whats the logic here? Low playoff birth is not worth it so we should tank every year until we get a Top 4 seed? Yea, I'm sure rookies are dying to play for a team that doesn't give out extensions under any circumstances. But I guess you prefer 4-5 years of rebuilding while fans keep b****ing about not making the playoffs.

    LET'S GO WARRIORS!

Though it scares me to death to see Jimmer's name that close to us. Nooo thank you.

And, being the UNC homer/fan on the board, I'm still not sold on Barnes. He'd be a good pick at 11 just because of the potential, but he's not ready to come out right now. If the ball isn't in his hands, he isn't sure how to be effective. I'm not sure how quickly he would adapt into Adelman's read-and-react system. He also settles for way too many jumpers/3pt shots; there is nobody who can stop him from getting to the bucket. It's frustrating watching him launch threes instead of taking over the game by taking it to the hole.

No, he had a slow start to his Freshman season but he has really picked it up.

If he falls to 11, and the Rockets are there to pick him. I'd be ecstatic. We'd finally be replacing Shane Battier...again.

As far as the Rockets/Warriors rankings go. If I am the Rockets I try and not worry about the standings, but instead worry about getting over .500. This year's draft has so many unknowns that it is really a huge gamble and will probably provide the most "busts" we have seen in years.

The only reason why Jimmer Fredette is ranked so high now is that he is one player that NBA scouts know exactly what he can do on the NBA level.

I have to agree with you on Barnes. There is a reason why he fell from the projected #1 pick to now in the teens. Even on the college level he just doesn't have the ability to really take over a game.

He has talent and athleticism over everyone else on the court all the time and just doesn't get it done all the time.

In the NBA his talent and athleticism will be on par with almost all role-players even. Would compare to Nicolas Batum if he performs on a more consistent basis on the NBA level. Not as good of a defender at the moment though.

-My draft projection would have to be Donatas or Jan Vessely being two targets highest on Morey's list in the projected draft order. One of the main reasons is that with the looming lockout, those players will get even more time to grow and develop before coming to the NBA if there is a lockout.

The unknown CBA allows for the more talented players overseas to enter the draft and still have the flexibility to play another year overseas. Ensuring a rotation spot when the playing resumes after the lockout.

US College players are most likely going to hold out till 2012 when they know they will be able to play their rookie season for sure. If alot of these College prospects come out you will see more and more busts this next season.

LOL...only if we re-sign Brooks to a monster extension...then we would have three of the seven dwarves at our PG spot!

The problem here is no one is able to just predict a draft like this. "We should try to make the playoffs and go .500 because this draft sucks."

Looks good on paper, but a year later when some of these players are tearing up the league and the Rockets are in the same position as last year then it doesn't look too good.

I'm really hoping the Rockets fall into the top 10. Does that make me a bad fan? I don't think so, I still watch all the games I can but I just don't want another season of complete mediocrity where the only thing to look forward to is "Can we make a big trade!?!?"

I understand the unknown part of the draft, but what really is the point of trying to get to .500? It's a nice goal to have for the team this season, but it does nothing for us in the big picture.

Yes, there may not be a big difference between the 11th pick and the 13th pick. But there could be. That possibility alone makes it worth it, IMO. It was the reason that we didn't get to draft Brandon Roy, Rudy Fernandez, or Courtney Lee; they all went a few spots before us.

Yet, those team with loser mentality have won a few playoff series, while the Rockets will be going for for a few low lottery pick, 3rd in the last 6 years.

Celtics, Spurs, Magic, Mavericks, Cavaliers, Nuggets, Bulls, Heat, Kings, Pacers, Jazz, Hornets, Hawks, Thunder, Suns, Trailblazers, etc.
