The shooting would certainly improve. I would rather go this route than spending a bunch of cap room that reduces Tari's time in the rotation.
There's been so much talk about them not wanting two more rookies, maybe they're planning on trading the 4 and still landing a top 10 pk. I hope not, but just a thought.
During an appearance on the 'Inside The Mavs' podcast, Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports made a prediction for what the Mavs will do with the 10th pick based on the current information available in the days leading into the NBA Draft. "Yeah, they're going to trade it [the 10th pick]," Fischer said. "If Dallas is picking at 10, I will be absolutely floored."
Very few people expected Dallas to keep that pick. They said as much themselves. It’s what they are apparently looking for in return that’s the surprise.
Something is going down….so I would not take Bertan in this trade, we need a PG and SF in free agency
That was my first thought. Perhaps someone is sweet on that 4 pick in the right scenario, and Stone is lining up a backup plan
I don't get this from the Mavs end they tank the end of the season to get a pick and then trade away their own.
I would assume they have called every team in the 10-15 pick range just to test the waters with KMJ/Tate + 20 Move up + add another 8-10 million in capspace
I know the Mavs hate the Betran’s contract and they are saying they would do anything to get rid of it.
The Bertans deal is lowkey not even that bad - it has an ETO and is partially guaranteed for $5m, so it works like an expiring. If the Mavs are willing to trade down to 20 for our fringe pieces, that's a no-brainer.
I heard that the Dallas and Atlanta are in serious talks for the 10th pick, Atlanta wants the 10 picks to get Lively. Dallas will give the 10 pick if they can send out Bertan contract and then Atlanta said we accept the Bertan contract but take John Collins….Mavs said no to Collins but wants Capella….deal is dead…Houston and Dallas are talking now?
I simply hope we're not cheap and miss our chance to move up because we want to horde assets. If it takes giving the Mavericks another player they can control for a few years, I say pull the trigger. We have some good young talent, but we can build a better team out of the players available at #10.
