Raptors have Alabi..hope Morey can trade for a young Center that we can develop..but if no other options, Dampier will be okay..we're one Yao foot injury away...ohh..he already rolled his ankle.

Is it too late to pull the Biannual Exception offer and just throw out a non-guaranteed one-year league minimum contract?

I am curious as to what you plan on using the Biannual for? I am Biannual-curious.

Funny, I always thought that about you.

While I think that a healthy, 100% Erick Dampier is a relative bargain at the Biannual Exception ($2.08M this season, ~$2.25M in 2011-12), my preference would be that the Rockets hold onto that $2.25M in salary flexibility in the summer of 2011. They'd already have Brad Miller on the payroll for a fully guaranteed ~$4.75M, and I'd rather not have over $7M locked up in two aging centers. (For this season, however, I'm fine with the ~$6.5M those two would be making.) Plus, if Dampier shows that he's washed up and useless, he'd still at least be an expiring contract rather than a guy with another year left on his deal.

Still, if Dampier's able to contribute what he's contributed in each of the past several years, the Biannual Exception is quite reasonable (if not a downright steal) for the Rockets.

I read Feigen that Rockets could be offering him just a year (for LLE quantity), that both parts might be interested in it. ¿? I think it will be the full LLE, but it's a possibility.

Umm... so I guess that leaves us and Portland?

I don't think the team should worry much about saving the BAE or the $2.25 mil because (a) we don't know if the BAE will be around in the next CBA, (b) neither $2.25 mil or the BAE is of that much value.

The last couple guys I remember the Rockets signed with the BAE are Brent Barry and Derek Anderson, neither were critical contributors. If Damp just becomes a good defensive center for, say, 10-15 minutes a game for 50-60 games (i.e. the Mutombo role), it's really better than anything the exception or the extra money/flexibility can reasonably buy you.

Also, if Morey proved anythning this summer, he proves he knows how to dump salary at a minimal cost-- See Ariza and Andersen. I am not worried about Damp's money preventing the Rockets from going after someone they actually want.

So many teams are passing on him. The full LLE and two years guaranteed is overpaying.

I've been all for bringing Dampier here and the indecision hasn't bothered me. Until now.

Smart Move... Addition of Dampier means Hill and Patterson live on the bench. I said this before I thought Dampier was waiting on the Rockets and not the other way around. I actually think Dampier would help us in instances. SO I am not against the signing but I like the idea of having more minutes for Patterson and Hill. Plus when you think about it. Hayes was a starting center last year which was bad but as a third string center heis not a bad option plus Scola played some5 last year and Hill can play that spot as well and Patterson played a lot of 5 in college. We really don't need dampier

Does anyone know why Dallas is not interested in him?
