Rockets also pursuing Dampier (UPDATE: Rockets make 2-year offer)

To me it looks like a 35yr old veteran trying to avoid training camp.

 

You know its a depressing offseason when we have a 31 page thread about the possibility of getting Erik freaking Dampier..

 

So what if he does? Why does that bother you? Does Dampier not swooning over your favorite basketball team make you feel like you penis is getting smaller?

And it's not just you personally, every time someone player doesn't have Houston as the top choice for whatever reason multiple people here freak out over why the Rockets are being "hated on" or whatever.

The fact is, Dampier has a few less than perfect choices for what could be the final year(s) of his NBA career and there's nothing wrong with proceeding carefully.

No one is offering significant money, the Rockets have a good team but maybe a small role for him, other teams may have bigger role but may have less talented teams or may offer even less money than the Rockets do. There isn't much downside to taking his time and choosing (cuz, in all likelyhood, he can find a team that will pay him around $1.4-$2 mil a year to play backup C, the kind of offer he's considering right now), and more downside to losing out on a significantly better opportunity (in terms of money and otherwise) because he and his agent fail to "leave no stone unturned" or because he chose wrong among the current options.

Sure, he's missing training camp/preseason, but it's probably not that hard for a team to fit in Damp, who is pretty much your factory-standard rebound/block shot/layup/dunk center.

Stop freaking out.

I've been told he will announce his decision in an hour long special tomorrow night on ESPN. Can't wait!!

Bucks 1st and then us 2nd even though we are paying more and TX has no state income tax. Very strange. Maybe he's just stalling to get out of training camp since the 2nd best C doesn't need practice. Not smart IMO.

Retirement, even if it's just until a big gets injured somewhere. Houston or Retirement. Take it completely 100% personal if he choose the latter.

 

I think it's only Milwaukee and Houston.
