I agree with that assesment... no doubt. But when is he going to be able to practice? If he starts camp 3 weeks late, that means he's not in "basketball shape" to start the season. That means he's more susceptible to injury if he's playing 25 mpg to start the season.

Dampier makes more sense than originally thought.

The problem isn't the drafting. Brooks, Landy, and Budinger were all great picks.

The problem with getting great players through the draft is that the Rockets aren't bad enough to get top picks. Lebron, Wade, Durant, Roy, Paul, and Deron Williams were all drafted higher than the Rockets have picked in the last eight years.

Whatever you want to do, I'll donate the $15 if he doesn't become the starter (barring unforseen injury).

Lol people talking about we are straight with Yao and Miller. Miller is hurt before training camp even starts and Adelman already saying Yao most likely won't even play 24 minutes... ummmmm Dampier is needed.

Chuck's an excellent situational player, and one of the better post defender's in the league. He doesn't suck. Hill on the other hand... ;)

Are any of this guys 7'0? These are definitely power forwards and we are not getting to the playoffs and doing anything we these guys sharing minutes at the 5. You seriously think we can go somewhere with these guys protecting the paint?

Even if the Rockets sign Dampier those three are going to play minutes at C.

Unless those undersized players are super good at the 5 spot (Hakeem, Malone, and Horford) you cannot win beat legit teams with legit bigs by spamming midgets at them. Even with those names I provided, with the exception of Hill, our guys are STILL shorter.

No their not. And while they played admirably under duress when we had no one else, I dont like the idea of them even being our 3rd option. Especially since our #1 option only plays half a game and our #2 option is already hurt.

Hell, I remember the twin tower days when it was thought you needed at least a 6'10" guy to play the 4. In fact, our #1 opponent (Lakers) in getting to the finals HAS a 7'er at the 4.

Untill Hill proves something at the 5 (has he at the 4?), we need another big body. If not Dampier, someone else.

Hill is the only one of the 3 that should naturally play a few minutes a game at center, and that's only if he develops.

Hayes should only play there if there's significant foul trouble.

Scola really shouldn't play center at all now that we have alternatives.

Possible if minutes are distributed a certain way. As long as we have options with bigger, stronger and better players at center.

he sounds like a lazy ****er who just wants to skip training camp and wait until practice time is over before he joins a team

A couple of posters mentioned the need for an extra big. I agree. If we are not able to sign a center like Dampier and MBenga, I would like us to keep Alex Johnson. I know he is a PF, but as of now, I think he could our 3rd backup center. Dude is a bruiser and has got some NBA experience.

Having said all of that, I think Johnson will be caught in the numbers and be cut. Pity.

What has he done the last 5-6 days? I thought he had been in Milwaukee and other places. "planning trip to Milwaukee this week." When, Friday? And another week to go to Portland? Not very proffesional by his part.
