Screw Dampier and let him rot in Toronto or Wisconsin.

We should inquire about Nene from the Nuggets and get involved in some sort of 3 team trade involving Melo.

Here is ESPN's outlook on Nene's 2010-2011 season.

He would instantly become our best backup C in the Yao era!

Besides, he could even play some 4 alongside Yao to counter the size of Bynum and Gasol. Nene and Yao>Bynum and Gasol.

I think he can help bring us a championship. That's the whole point, isn't it? Acquiring players who can improve your talent level and thus your chances of winning?

    News about Dampier

    http://journaltimes.com/sports/article_4030c932-caab-11df-9d86-001cc4c002e0.html

The Bucks remain interested in veteran free-agent center Erick Dampier, although they aren't regarded as the frontrunners for his services.

Dampier was allegedly close to signing with Miami last week before negotiations broke down.

Several other teams are now courting Damper, including Houston, the apparent frontrunner, and Toronto.

We are considered the frontrunner.

    Dampier @ $2M > Nene @ $11M

Dampier has averaged over 7 rpg in each of the past 7 years, with only about 25 mpg each season. Nene has needed over 30 mpg to get those same rebounding numbers. The same can be said for their blocks.

Dampier sucks as a human being. But at $2M he'd be just about the best bargain you'll find at the center position and improve our squad significantly.

Dampier at $2 as a extra backup center for Yao Ming is a bargain. Don't trust me, trust Morey.

Can you elaborate? I must be out of the loop on his history.

If anything, Dampier would only incrementally increase our chances to win it all. Actually no one is sure whether playing Dampier would be better than playing Brad Miller/Jordan Hill/Patrick Patterson/Chuck Hayes (those guys would take Dampier's minutes) at this point. I would rather develop the young guys instead of playing a 35-year-old who could only get worse. Maybe Hill or Patterson can develop faster than we think.

I doubt think we'd bring Damp in to be anything other than insurance and for situational substitutions. Yeah, he'd get 18 minutes on the 2nd night of a back to back, but we've got an awfully deep front court rotation and multiple guys that play both the 4 & 5 pretty effectively (namely Hayes and Jeffries). Depending on the matchup, I envisions nights where Damp wouldn't get off the pine. Seriously, we're talking about a 3rd stringer. He would help... he's a big body and they give him 6 fouls just like any other 3rd teamer.

I think you're really undervaluing what he produces on the court. This isn't Jamaal Magloire.

He's a self-absorbed jerk that will likely work the least of anyone on the team.

$15 to the tip jar says he immediately becomes our starting C so long as Yao only plays in the second half. I can't see Miller beating him out.

Wow... that confident? I'm not much of a gambler, and I need to make a contribution anyway. I'll throw into the tip jar regardless, and we'll just make the stakes "bragging rights?"

He did average 7 rebounds in 23 minutes last season, which is right in line with his career average... and Miller won't be practicing for another 3 (?) weeks... maybe I'm underestimating.

Feigen said Adelman believes Miller can run his system (point center?)

Id rather have nobody added to the Rockets ever after this offseason. Maybe we can start drafting folks better? Trades and signing are becoming overated unless you have collusion involved like the Heat. I just dont see us as having a bunch of allstars colluding to come here like that.
