It's not what he thinks of the city or the franchise, but how many minutes he thinks he can get. With the Bucks, he would be clearly the #2 center behind Bogut, with Houston, he's battling for minutes with Yao, Miller, and the PFs for minutes.

oh, bite me. you know as well as i do that i'll be rooting for them. that's not the issue at all.

and yeah..when Kevin Martin finishes in the top 5 in MVP voting, then your Sacramento Kings comparison will make sense. i won't hold my breath.

Rockets Sign Patrick Sullivan To Training Camp Roster
    (6'9'' center from Southeastern Louisiana)

    Read more: RealGM , Stats

"The move does not impact the Rockets' efforts to sign a third center.
Houston is currently offering a two-year, $4 million contract to Erick Dampier."

i have a feeling that he will choose to accept the rockets offer. he will only get 12 minutes a game behind bogut. here he can have 24 and maybe even start.

riiiiigghtt!!! it's whining to argue against your very impressive: "we're not championship contenders this year. but we're championship contenders in 2011/12. but we're also championship contenders this year!!!"

    What?

I am saying we MIGHT be contenders if Yao is healthy......and I am more than happy to go into this season with the roster we have in place, and see where the chips fall.

I understand people like yourself who are scared of Yao going down again, more than fear actually, it seems you expect it to happen.

I don't get that at all.

There has only been one case of a guy having this surgery and that is Big Z, he came back and has been very productive fore more than 7 years.....does that guarantee the same thing happens to Yao?

Of course not, but it is the only viable bit of data we have regarding the issue.

I don't have any expectations on Yao, just hope.....and as I have said before...it is foolish to give up on the guy before the season even starts.....why would anyone do that?

Let the team play, and see what happens......why set yourself up for a long season by whining about something that MIGHT or MIGHT NOT happen?

Makes no sense....just enjoy the ride.

come on...you've changed this and conditioned it so much it's silly, now.

i'm not interested in going back and reposting your posts on this topic, so you win.

If they are in the mix for the top 3 seeds in the West, I believe they are in contention for a championship.

I know you are talking about 'being a serious contender' but I guess that depends upon whom you are talking to....

I know you are a Rox fan Max, I just don't understand how you have given up on Yao already......he is one of the hardest working players we have ever had, and when healthy he is a Superstar level player.....

Let's see if he gets back to their by March, that is the team's plans, obviously.

I also think we can beat anybody on a playoff series if everything goes well: no serious injuries, we get Dampier, and Yao returns to his old self.

Some IFs, but none of them unlikely.

because i've listened to doctors and surgeons talk about this injury over and over again. i've heard people here all summer long talk about getting back a healthy yao...there's no such thing! we're getting back a guy who we hope can ultimately play more than 24 minutes per game without suffering what would be the last injury of his pro career.

it's not Yao's fault. we knew he'd have a short shelf life when we drafted him. people don't play long careers at that body size...they never have. and now he's got pins holding his foot together...and we're already starting the season with limited minutes....and our 2nd best player is also seriously injury prone.

i've seen this show a few times before, dd, with a guy named tracy, as well. seen it from yao over and over again. i don't expect him to be healthy all season. and without this guy we were a lottery team last season.

Which doctors? Who is saying that?

Most of the ones I have heard or read are saying " Uncharted territory"

We knew no such thing? There was no "He will have a short career" cadre of folks when we drafted him.

You are completely throwing in the towel without any substantiated evidence at all.....

IMO, Yao has had one serious injury and it occured twice......the doctors reshaped his foot to take care of that problem.

Why are you so sure that they failed?

I choose to think he has finally gotten his issue (singular) behind him.

I am flabbergasted that you are so sure Yao's career is over....you might be correct, but you also might be way off......but what you are...for sure...is uninformed about what will happen...just like everyone else.

his issue is he's 7'6" and has foot problems. that doesn't go away.

not throwing the towel on anything. just don't see them as a championship contender. stop arguing the strawman, da da.

NEver mind, I choose to wait to see if Yao gets back, you don't believe he will.

One of us will be right...and I know we both hope it is me.

Max isn't Guy Lewis, DD! He's beyond frustrated that both Yao, and McGrady before, have missed countless games, entire seasons. Two guys who were considered the linchpins of the franchise. Two guys who were to carry the Rockets to deep playoffs runs and, most importantly, the Finals and championships. McGrady is gone, thank god, but Yao remains The Great Unknown. We've pinned our hopes on him time and again, and through no fault of his own, have seen his tremendous talent parked on the sidelines in a suit, time and again. Max hasn't given up on the Rockets or the season. He's perhaps given up on expecting to have Yao for any length of time, any stretch long enough for the Finals and a chance at a championship.

Who can blame him? I'm the eternal optimist type, which is as "realistic" as many of your own positions regarding the team. We all hope that Yao will play at a high level for years, once this latest nightmare is in a rearview mirror, but when is that going to happen? In our dreams? It makes absolute sense to attempt to get another superstar caliber player on the Rockets, in case Yao and the organization aren't lucky. Why else has Morey tried to move heaven and earth to make that happen? Because it's fun?

You have been wrong about Yao's injuries for years. Maybe this is the year you win and Yao plays 82 games.

unless your lord is daryl morey, you might as well get used to having damp on the rockets.

if its between playing 12 minutes behind bogut or 24 minutes and maybe starting over yao... i think he takes this offer.

Who isn't frustrated by that? But to give up BEFORE the season, and be saying things like "We knew Yao had a small window" or "His body and size are the problem and they won't go away"...is silly.

That is the entire crux of the issue, there is no more evidence that Yao is through than there is that he will come back as strong as ever.

Everyone is frustrated, but this should be a time of HOPE, this team is finally healthy, and to see folks GIVING UP, before the season even gets started is ludicrous.

Not at all what we were talking about...

He has had exactly one serious injury the others were flukes....same could happen to anyone.....the stress fracture is the only one to worry about....and we have to assume the doctors got it right and it is now fixed.
