absolutely. it's very difficult to talk about the Rockets chances this season without talking about Yao Ming. so i'm sure i've talked about him in any thread involving the Rockets upcoming season.

Even if Yao stays healthy all year, the Rockets don't have the stars to compete against the elite, and Morey knows this, or he wouldn't be chasing afters players like Carmelo and Bosh.

Someone posted that, as constructed, the Texans have a better chance of winning a Championship than the Rockets do, and I agree.

there is absolutely no question of that...a lot of that simply has to do with the leagues they play within.

Actually the Texans and the Rockets are in the same boat, they are both contenders if everything breaks right for them.

you have no idea the degree of how wrong i believe you are. i'm not sure there's a measurement to describe how wrong i believe you are.

    of course...that doesn't mean i'm necessarily right.

    It most certainly does not.....

    Me either BTW.

I like the Texans but until they can stop a passing attack, well.....

    My two cents...

I think Madmax has legitimate concerns about Yao's health and he shows his frustration as a Rockets fan in his posts.

On the other hand, that other guy, Leeb, is just a hater.

We are all frustrated about Yao's feet......but he has a contract, they are doing what they think is best, so we are stuck with him for better or worse for this year.

As reported here earlier, the Heat has bypassed making a move on Erick Dampier. Four centers into camp it will be.

i said this to you in another thread...but the Colts and Saints couldn't stop the passing attack last year either...and both were in the Super Bowl. The NFL is a new world...it's been tracking that way for a while now.

The Texans have some great players on their roster right now....the Rockets do not have a great player on their roster...and I'd argue you need that more in hoops than football.

I'm just tired of it. Seriously tired of it. We knew when we drafted him...we talked about it then...that our window with him would be small. That guys with that size don't play very long. They just don't. It's tons of wear and tear. I think they acted with very little foresight...maybe because of the value he has to them off the court...or maybe just because they missed. But him being out left us out of the playoffs last year -- in a league where more teams make the playoff than miss it. It cost us a year with a healthy McGrady a few years back. And this season all our hopes are pinned to the pins in his foot holding together with that kind of impact at his size.

If he were healthy 100%, I still don't buy it as a real contender.

But given that he's not...given that we know going in we're talking about limited minutes...I don't buy it at all. And it frustrates the crap out of me that we're so attached and anchored to it.

This team, a constucted has achance to be special. You dont need superstars to contend(04 pistons). All you need is the determination and the dedication to make it work. Are starting five is good enough to get to the playoffs. The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. We will be just fine. Morey knows what he is doing. Are bench is deep. And are coach is a beast. Let it playout.

The 04 pistons are a fluke, that hasn't been able to win ever again.

they may be a fluke, but they have a ring. All they did was play defense, manage the game. We are not that different then them. Smart pg, underrated sg, defensive sf, prettygood pf, and a defensive center. great coach...history inthe making

It can be a fluke to get past the first round. Every once in a while it might be a fluke to get past the second round. If you win a conference final, it ain't a fluke.

You might have gotten a lucky break or two (what team doesn't) but there's no such thing as winning a championship on fluke when the playoff series are 7 games.

Remember last year, it was not only Yao who got injured, not the whole season, but a lot of players suffered injuries in key momentos of the season, even when Rockets still had a chance, had injured players last season...

It's a fluke that they won one championship at all, they have never been able to win again. Maybe, the no-stars Pistons will win this year.
