Either way, a signing like this would give the Rockets another big body to take minutes off of Yao's foot until he's fully healed for the playoffs. All the Rockets need is size, rebounding, and a bit of defense (and Dampier brings all 3) from their center position when Yao's not in.

Dampier's an ideal fit for the Rockets. With the depth we'd have, we might have the 1st 12 man rotation in MBA history.

Dampier has a chance to be a starting center for Miami, who are favorite to win all. On the other hand he can be a 2nd or 3rd string center with us, yeah I seriously doubt he reject the Heat's offer.

If I was Morey I would concentrate on Fesenko, whom has shown the potential to be true force inside. As seen in the Lakers series against Utah, when he was able to hold his own against the Lakers front line.

The only trick is to give him a deal that Utah, would be unwilling to match... ;)

Dudes, all respect, but putting Miller and Dampy (the dwarve who is always wet!) out to counter Gasol and Bynum is like countering greyhounds with a couple of full-size poodles. They may be roughly the same height, and your poodles might be smart, but the poodles will never ever catch the greyhounds.

But if the poodles bite them in the right spot and hard enough to give them a limp, it's back to game-on.

What is taking this guy soooo long to make a decision? Does he really think he is the best center in the west?

This season is insane, and it hasn't even begun yet.

So what I'm gathering Erika is a longshot because of the Miami allure and Fesenko is probably about the same longshot because of his restricted FA status. Sounds about right.

    That is an excellent point.

Poodles are better in water than greyhounds -- so there's that also! I would give Dampy a chance against Gasol if they played basketball underwater.

    Another advantage of getting Dampier:
prevent Heat from getting an eligible centre as Dampier that fill their (only) defensive hole when facing us

Unless that black poodle weighs 260-300 lbs, then it just drowns. :(

Maybe we are planning a trade after we get Dampier.... Hill and Jeffries are not going to see any playing time... I think we should trade for an upgrade at the sf position next.

I don't see what the big deal is. You're gonna need 3 guys who can play Center if Yao isn't going to play back-to-back games. Brad Miller can't play 48 minutes in the games Yao doesn't play.

If he signs, fine. If he doesn't, fine. You have to make the offer.

I don't care who a player used to play with, if he can help the team and you can get him, get him.

Do you honestly think Morey and Adelman are in a conference room saying 'Well, we could sign so-and-so but he used to play for the Jazz, so I think we will pass.'...
