Oh, you must be joking. I love Vernon. He was a great Rocket and, despite your offense at his place on my list, he made the all-time top 15 for me. But to suggest that he was arrested for something akin to civil disobedience in pursuit of a lofty cause is hilariously stupid. Off court he was a chronic screw up. I don't care that he got into trouble all the time - most everyone I know has been through stuff like that and it doesn't make me like him any less - but the way you martyr a millionaire athlete is silly.
Strictly best players by position with quality years on the Rockets (excludes Barkley, Pippen, etc). Hakeem Olajuwon Elvin Hayes Tracey McGrady Clyde Drexler Calvin Murphy Moses Malone Otis Thorpe Rudy Tomjanovich Mike Newlin Sam Cassell 11-15 (bench): Ralph Sampson Robert Reid Steve Francis John Lucas Robert Horry (My guess is that Yao will make this list by next year. I'd already put him even with Sampson and even just one more year of decent play and he'll be ahead of him. As much as I think he is a terrific player, he's got a ways to get to Mo Malone.)

And so did Zacarias Moussaoui (Al-Qaeda), Terry Nichols (Oklahoma City Bombing) and Ted Kaczynski (Unabomber). The VAST majority of people who go to jail are people who are there because they are thugs and did bad things. Vernon was no exception.
My bad! I was making an old-timer list before I started my new one and Egan got on the wrong list. Oops. Officially edited.

vernon isnt a martyr! he's still alive and the life force called CLUTCH CITY flows through him.. through the loops of 610, to the pand handle, to the hill country and to the gulf of mexico. it flows..through all of us
Vernon was a great man who lived the thug life Same with Tupac but you guys are too young or sheltered to know about Tupac. go on with your Emimen records..
Jeff, Insert the blanks for me: Two hours after blowing the biggest lead in NBA playoff history, the Rockets flew out of Choke City down 0-2 to the Phoenix Suns. Four days later, the Rockets flew into Clutch City with the series tied 2-2. In Game 1 of the 1994 Western Conference Semifinals, Houston built an 18-point lead but lost. In Game 2, they had a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter but lost in overtime. "I'll never forget getting on the charter flight after Game 2," Rockets television commentator Bill Worrell said. "It was like a morgue." The Rockets didn't rise from the dead until the second half of Game 3 when they found themselves behind 49-41 at halftime. Then [BLANK] got hot, scoring 31 points in the second half as the Rockets won 118-102. Houston finished "Desert Sweep" by winning Game 4, 107-96, to even the series. ---------- As for [BLANK] , he scored a series-high 21 points in Game 7 and dared Starks into missing 16 of 18 shots. Together, [BLANK] and Smith shot 10 for 18 for 32 points in Game 7. "In a must-win game, in a game where people had to step up, Kenny and I did something we hadn't done throughout the Finals," [BLANK] says.
The REAL All WhiteBoy Team: C: Billy Paultz (can't believe he got missed!) PF: Jim Petersen SF: Rudy SG: Mike Dunleavy PG: Scott Brooks Actually a reasonable NBA lineup WhiteBoy Depth: C: Tim McCormick PF: Matt Bullard SF: Ryan Bowen SG: Rick Adelman PG: Matt Maloney Pretty weak here...but we are talking whiteboys.
I'd take Chris Jent over Ryan Bowen, but really, we're splitting hairs when it comes to that level of basketball godliness.

Moses and Hakeem would both have to start. Slide one of them to PF. Out of curiousity - how were the Moses v Hakeem matchups? I would think they those 2 would have had to have faced off on numerous occasions. Yeah their "prime" years didn't coincide but I'd still be interested in any old-timers' stories.
