Flip would be a terrible choice at a price like that. Actually adding a worse 3 point shooter than Alston to backcourt just would really allow teams to cheat off them. F Jones, Banks, S Jack and a host of others (Buckner, R. Butler) would be better choices. Or if we do get someone who can't hit 3s at all, at least get someone with more size and athleticism than Murray (Steph, Ariza). DerMarr Johnson on the cheap--2 year min, or the lower portion of a split MLE (say 1.7 mil year) if we go that route.
Just say no to Flip! Just like what a lot of other people are saying, I rather get someone else with that money.
I agree, don 't sign Flip! Let 's get F. Jones (SG) and Banks (PG) for the backcourt, Ariza (SF) and please let us sign a decent PF and/or C also. Trade Howard, Sura (retires maby), Wesley (retires maby), Deke (retires maby), Brunson (retires maby) and Bowen! Damn, we have old players! ______________________________ PG: Alston/Banks/JL III SG: Jones/Bogans/Head/Frahm SF:T-Mac/Battier/Ariza/Novak PF:Randolph/Battier/Hayes C: Yao/Pollard
When will this nightmare end? Its like some of these guys just don't want to play in Houston for whatever reasons (city sucks, JVG, they hate Yao) and now we have to resort to looking for younger versions of crappy players we've had for years.
Flip Murray would not help this team much. This is what I fear that the Rockets might do after they miss out on MJ--go out and sign someone who doesn't fit just for the sake of doing something. Let's be patient and wait for the right deal to come along.
I think the best offseason move at this point would be to bring Rasual Butler on board. He is a great catch and shoot guy that plays hard on both ends of the court. (For some reason, he resembles Mcgrady from the side). The Rockets have expressed concerns all summer about needing more size. Butler offers exactly that. He would be my first choice out of the picked over FA's. Reggie Evans would provide good insurance for the PF/C spot. After Yao and McGrady went down last season, the Rockets had no insurance players to get the job done. My only concern is that Evans, although bigger than Hayes, plays very similar (rebounding/put-backs). Eddie House would be a great scoring option off the bench. He could be the spark the Rockets need in their depth chart. My only concern here, is how much House is requesting is unknown. If he could be signed for a "good" deal, he could offer immediate help at PG. Others to consider: John Lucas 3 has been playing great ball. Carroll has had a impressive Summer League. Flip Murray, although he doesnt seem to be the popular choice. Trevor Ariza, which I am totally against, but he is reported to be on the Rox radar. -------------------------------------------- I wish their was a way to grab Al Harrington!!!
I like the guy but i would rather us prusue SJAX since that article says that the pacers will likely sign Bonzi! If we could get SJAX for Juwon that would be ideal. I think he is a perfect fit for this team. But if we cant deal for him then i would be fine with Flip! Who would yall rather have Flip or Fred Jones?
I think the Rockets should sign Marcus Banks, and re-sign Keith Bogans, the guy will come back to Houston for cheap most likely, and he fit nicely into our system. Then sign JL3 to a small contract.
We better not sign him for ~5M. I'll go apes**t, sign a guy that can't shoot for that and let MJ go for just one lousy year. I'd like to get Jeffries over anybody at this point, he played all 5 positions with the Wizards last year but he's restricted.
Flip can create his own shot, which is what the Rockets need. However, he shoots a terrible percentage, and he doesn't contribute much else. So I vote "no". I'd rather give those minutes to Luther Head. Unfortunately, since everyone on the board seems to be against Flip, I'm sure that CD and Moneyballs will sign him to a Brent Price-type contract.
In reference to an anonymous survey done by NBA players earlier this year. A lot of them said Yao was the 2nd most overrrated player in the NBA. Hate is probably the wrong word to use, but it dosen't seem like they have much respect for him either.
Not with a career 3P% of .272. Compare that to the .389 of James Jones out of Phoenix. Seeing as Phoenix needs the dollars for Barbosa, and probably Tim Thomas...we could probably get him for the smaller TE.
