    Better us than OKC.

Sadly I think this means goodbye Jones if we get him.

Hopefully he lands on a non-threat team like Phoenix.

I'm just glad we're entering the mix after it looked like OKC was gonna get him for a bag of chips.

    This ^^

I was going to say Lamb for Lopez is a robbery. Not even a steal.

Here's the part that I don't get. If the Nets aren't willing to take on Perkins' expiring, then wouldn't they also be unwilling to take Houston's expiring/team option contracts [e.g., Papanikolaou, Terry, Shved]?

The only reason we could want Lopez is if Morey has another deal in the works for Dragic. Suns could use a good 5 with all the 6'9 guys they have

Havent been around a lot of women have ya?

Not all women wear lacy socks or ones that dont go past the ankle.

Maybe I know too many women who like to dress casual, but most of the ones I know who like to wear jeans and tennis shoes wear socks similar to those, especially when in a obgyn office which is nearly always freezing.

Can we have Brock Lesnar in the paint, instead?

So at first I was thinking this was great, a backup center! Then I remembered Brook Lopez got paid a few years ago. He has another year on his contract (player option) and is owed $15,719,000 and $16,774,000 respectfully.

I highly doubt it would be a trade for Dwight, so to me it could only mean one of two things:
    1) Driving up the price; or
    2) Multi-team trade, ie Dragic? (wishful thinking?)

One can hope. We desperately need another playmaker. It doesn't HAVE to come at the PG position, but I think it has to be a guard or SF.

Jones, Capela, Pap, Canaan, Shved, & Dorsey is enough salary for Lopez.

Jones, Capela, Pap, Canaan are under contract for next season, most with team options. All are young players with upside.

Shved is expiring but 26 there's still enough time to evaluate. He had a 19-something PER with Philly.

Dorsey's the only no upside filler but he's on a min contract.

I would rather keep Jones and Capella.

You're not addressing the question. Why are the Nets unwilling to take Perkins' expiring contract?

I would have to guess it has something to do with the team's total salary at the end of the 2014-2015 season and having to pay the incremental and/or repeater luxury tax rates. [see CBA FAQ #21 - Luxury Tax]

Yeah I think it's about avoiding additional tax. So really they're looking for a team well under the cap or with a large TPE to absorb his contact for nothing in return. That's the third team Id think.

But is it possible at all with any Lopez trade to avoid the luxury tax? They have to take a bunch of salary back, nearly the same amount as Lopez salary

A 3-way with PHX makes sense...

    PHX gets:B.Lopez/T.Jones

    BKN gets:K.Pap/J.Terry/A.Shved/NOP pick

    HOU gets:G.Dragic/Z.Dragic/M.Plumlee

Thanks. So, presumably Brooklyn contacted Philly (lots of cap room for Perkins' expiring) and Boston (Rondo TPE) and could not strike a deal with either team to take Kendrick Perkins.

Perkins is a dead weight contract. He'd have some trade value if he had a season ending injury so the insurance money would kick in. Even then NBA teams aren't as attracted to those kind of deals anymore.
