Exactly. If we are reallying looking to rebuild/plan for the SoL, then why would we overpay a role player like Ariza, when we can likely get a better player for that amount of money next year.

He may improve some, but I feel he has pretty much hit his ceiling (sort of like Landry), and anything more than 5-6 mil is too much.

Ariza needs a superstar (ala Kobe) to make him look good. I wouldn't be surprised if he reverted back to what he was in New York and Orlando if he signs with anyone else but the Lakers. He's looking for a payday and I'm not sure we should give it to him.

Lets put it this way, I trust Ron Artest more to create his own shot than Ariza.

Well said. Ariza will revert back to old way with NY and Orlando. How do you think the Lakers "stole" him? He wasnt great or anything like he was with LA during his time with Orlando which leads me to ask: everyone does know who Ariza was traded for right? Mr Brian Cook himself.

Ariza is as good as he is going to get now. Just another run of the mill player in this league. I would rather have Morrison.

    Why?
Because we need one white player on the team after Barry leaves?
Because we need someone on the team who has a mustache?
Because we are collecting players with long hair?

You mean the guy wearing the suit sitting at the end of the bench that never saw the light of day in the playoffs. You're not much of a judge of talent.

He can improve all he wants, but he'll never be the cornerstone of an elite defense like Battier.

I am guessing Ariza is one of those 15 or so guys Michael Lewis' article was talking about... the "no stats all stars."

If we're able to do that, then we might as well call Cleveland and ask them to borrow Lebron on their off days..

    TRUE TRUE TRUE

You can't have a team without the longed hair mustached white guy. However, in order to get here, he must regrow his hair and to at least Scola length or longer.

How are we potentially signing ANY free agents outside of MLE money?! If letting Artest walk frees up that much money, I'd much rather use it to extend Scola, Brooks, and Landry before all their asking prices get way too high IMO...

If we need a guy to fit that description then we should go after....

He'll even give us better quotes than Artest has...

Ariza is a solid 3rd option and perfect 4th option.

Too bad that is not what he would be here.

Unless someone else is creating for him, he is a horrible 3rd option. You take away the paint and he becomes Shane Battier (camping out at the three point line).
