    1. Because Kyle Lowry is probably a better rebounder than Brook Lopez?

    2. Because if Lopez was really worth 4 years $44 m, one of the other 28 team in the league would be offering him that money and forcing the Nets to match.

    3. Because the Orlando Magic doesn't want a signed and traded Lopez back in return for Dwight Howard anyway. If they did, Dwight would be in Brooklyn already instead of threatening to sue the Magic to get out of next year's contract.

That's actually a good point. Lopez probably thinks he's worth more than that, while it's hard to see the Rockets agreeing.

    Lowry: 5.1rebounds per 36minutes
    Lopez: 4.8 rebounds per 36minutes

The guy makes Yao Ming look like Dennis Rodman on the boards

At 30 years of age, 30 and any year after is a year too late really.

The player's production might be RELATIVELY the same from 30 to 32. But PERCEIVED value really begins to drop.

Pau Gasol at 32 might be 85% of Gasol at 30. But he might only have 50-65% of that trade value. You've gotta be like Garnett, Shaq and Duncan to hold the same relative value. Even 33 y/o Barkley on the Rockets, there was no way 30 y/o Barkley woulda been had for just Horry and Cassell.

Might as well keep Scola, or deal him for cap space if he's not gonna bring back even talent.

Scola is my favorite player. I hope he retires a rocket.... Although, I wouldn't be that pissed if he was traded for a player that progresses the team to a contender.

Because they would be afraid that the Nets won't match. I wouldnt pay $7m for Lopez. Would rather have Asik if we can't get Dwight. Also the Scola deal fell apart probably bc Dwight's agent phoned Billy Hunter and said "are you f'n crazy?". If you do this deal you are completely shutting down any possibility of getting Dwight. Is or in the future bc you won't have cap space when Dwight becomes a free agent next year. And morey was just trying to help Billy along in the hopes that Billy was stupid enough to do a second dumb move. Can't blame Morey for this deal falling apart - even incompetent GMs occasionally wide up when other people are watching true backs.

And when we state facts to show that you're wrong you just ignore them, submerge and scan grizzlies bix scores desperately hoping for the monthly Rudy Gay 24 point offensive explosion in order to flog the haters with a bump of triumph.

Not a bad idea. With KG coming back and Ray Allen likely leaving then Martin/Scola to Boston might make sense. They certainly have to be in "win-now" mode and they do have some cap flexibility.

Draft 10 PFs. Trade our best PF to get a pick back we traded for Terrence Williams who we cut.

    Morey the Wizard.

Here's my best guess and it has nothing to do with Houston overvaluing our players:

Nets are trying to acquire Joe Johnson. If that deal falls through then the it sounds like the backup plan is to resign Lopez and Wallace (done) which would leave them with around $10M to acquire a PF.

Scola would obviously be a candidate for a PF to fit within that $10M salary slot but that is plan B. Nothing would happen unless the Johnson deal falls through.

Without a deal for Johnson, the Nets still plan to work to re-sign free agents Brook Lopez and Gerald Wallace, and believe they could have approximately $10 million remaining to try and secure a power forward, sources said. Moving Farmar and Morrow could free more cap space for the Nets.

The interesting thing is that under either scenario it seems as if Howard to the Nets is a long shot at best.

I really like Scola, and sentimentally would like to see him retire a Rocket. But clearly we are going in a different direction with all the PF assets. If indeed he is traded, I will surely miss his mental toughness, exemplary professionalism, and sure-thing 15-ft jump shot. I think the Rockets will also miss his leadership, especially if Lowry is traded. Subject to a replacement who is a veteran leader, who will lead--Camby?

Love scola but the writing is on the wall. Rockets should be able to get a pretty nice return

Clutch, has Morey tried to trade for Noah in the past? And are the rumors that Noah is on the table enticed interest from the Rockets?

If not Scola, what would it take to get Noah? Noah is coming off an injury, again, and Chicago is looking for a scoring 2, again. Doesn't Noah for Martin make sense, especially if it allows Bulls to keep Asik, whom they are high on?

Luis has deserved better than what he's been getting here. Ideally we can move him to a good team that can just eat his contract without sending us any back.

    Scola to Nets?

Merge if already posted. Couldn't find it anywhere.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--b...ohnson.html;_ylt=AtMX4nt4_.3b0FupljdOkny8vLYF

"While the Nets were discussing the possible deal for Johnson, they also were deep in talks with the Houston Rockets about acquiring power forward Luis Scola for a package of expiring contracts and a future draft pick, league sources said. There was a sense on both sides that a deal could be imminent, but it eventually hit a snag and fell apart, sources said. Unless the two sides completed the deal before midnight ET on Saturday, a potential trade would have to wait until July 11 for completion, when the league lifts its embargo for transactions."
