i think that doesn't apply to teams under cap. i mean, typically a team couldn't trade Garcia for Smith since he can't be combined with other salaries. But the Rockets can combine him with other players and trade for Smith because the Rockets are under cap. That's my understanding of those rules, anyway.

What did you expect? He's only a mid 1st round pick himself 1.5 years ago and his stock hasn't risen since, in fact might have dropped.

And a high 2nd is more valuable than a late 1st due to non guaranteed money.

When even 90% of the people here knew that he's not very good and wanted him gone, you think nba executives wouldn't know?

In addition to that, Josh Smith's contract has a 15% trade kicker for the remaining value of his contract. If he were to be traded before the trade deadline, his cap hit would be approx 13.85M instead of 13.2M.

    Harden
    Parsons
    Smith

I don't know if I would still be interested in Josh Smith. The Rockets would have T-Jones, D-Mo, T-Rob, and Royce White as forwards that they will continue to develop through next year.

Robinson shoots 47% in the restricted area. That's worse than Toney Douglas. Most of our players shoot around 60% in the restricted area.

The numbers say we will see more missed layup, assuming Robinson plays.

Given his playing time this year, a couple things became obvious (probable?).

    1) Raising Morris's value higher than it is presently was unlikely.
    2) Him earning the starting position wasnt going to happen.
    3) Solving the glut at the 4 begins with moving him.
    4) The time was now.

He's a rookie, and plus the coaching in Sacramento is awful. They're not good at developing players. It makes sense why Robinson didn't develop there. Good thing we have him, an organization who are good at developing players. Remember how awful Patrick Patterson was last year? He improved this year.:)

I don't put any weight into anything that happened in Sacramento. The place is a circus with no structure.

Robinson's raw start reminds me of Favors' start with the Nets before he got traded.

Look how that's worked out for the Jazz.

thank you! we shouldn't second guess ourselves making a good deal based on Sacramento's experience. That's like worrying about your haircut because the guy standing next to you who's talking to himself and is clearly unstable, points out that your hair looks funny

Early second round draft picks are more valuable than late first round picks.

I was just thinking the same thing! Low-risk, high-reward.. if he doesn't pan out, we only lost Patterson anyway. Easy to replace.

I really like Robinson's upside. Especially, under the tutelage of a HOF big man in McHale. They will develop his post game.

So Marcus gets to join his brother, 2Pat gets to join his BFF Cousins, and Toney+Cole get to...hmm...well...er...go to SAC.

    Grats, everybody!
