The return they were going to get from Golden State was pretty good ... not the crazy ask listed for the Rockets, but it was a good return. Kuminga, Wiggins and draft picks.

Yes, I cheated and listed some starters/rotation players.
No, I’m not up to date on the CBA and rules on matching and who can or can’t aggregate salaries.
And whether these teams think 37 year old Durant on an expiring deal is worth it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So stupid. People overrate what these two guys are going to cost. I think the Rockets should stay away from Booker. A Durant Rental for 1 pick and FVV would be fine.

That’s what the Rockets need to do. This draft is deep. Ace Bailey please!

The guy that Durant would replace in the lineup on a mid tier contract and a career backup to balance the money.

Pretty much the same thing they gave up for Butler. Wiggins, Kyle Anderson & a protected pick.

That deal was for two bites at the apple .... Now Durant will have only one year under contract and be a year older ....

Big difference between kaminga and multiple firsts compared to trash and one protected first

Difficult but not impossible to get him to Dallas - they don't have a single contract to make up most of the necessary salary and would have to piece together the ~$43+M required (without adding Kyrie, AD or Klay).

The resulting roster would look a lot like the current Suns - Star heavy with no bench or quality defenders and they'd be a hair under the 2A with several roster spots to fill.

I won't say no to it .... anything is possible.

I think Minnesota could get involved built around Julius Randal's contract. They were already rumored to be on the hunt for Durant

We don't know what those picks were .... other than to be GSW's own picks as that's all they have and with Durant, those picks are likely well out of the lottery.

We don't know how many or if there were protections in place.

    Just speculation.

True, but warriors picks are incredible since kd/curry would be retired by the time they convey, plus they're a massive injury risk since they're all ancient.

If KD wants a championship, Minnesota probably offers more than Houston does, right?
KD may not be so keen to live in Minnesota, though.

    Maybe not ....

They gave up the 2025 pick top 10 protected for Butler. I think it's safe to assume that was part of their offer, the next tradable pick would be 27.

They have their own picks in 26,27,28,29 & 31.

yes, the injury risk is real, but if those picks were protected .... maybe they never convey or turn to 2nds.

If I'm trading for KD, I'm not giving you the 45m required outgoing salary along with unprotected picks.

You might not, and i certainly wouldn’t, but i would be SHOCKED if the warriors offer didn’t have 2 unprotected firsts. Beyond shocked

I don't think Stone makes an offer at all. Just don't believe he gets involved.

As for Minny - they are one of the few teams that have the type of contract to make the deal relatively simple - Julius Randle at ~$30m makes up the bulk of the necessary matching salary.

Randle will also be in the final year of his contract which would be amenable PHX - they could probably move him at the deadline for further assets to facilitate a rebuild while ducking under the 2A.

Yeah, you gotta wonder about acquiring KD. A high asking price for a still-great player who nevertheless has maybe a couple of seasons left?

The Suns are said to be working with KD to find a trade partner. Why would KD choose here when he can go to Dallas and play with 2 close friends in Kyrie and AD who are closer to contention than we are? That leaves Booker. Are the Suns posturing in saying they won’t trade him? We’ll see. If no KD, I’d trade those picks for Zion and hope he figures it out. If these picks become actual players that we draft(that aren’t in the top 4) god help me
