So with waiving him, we're keeping this guy Sekou?

Nope, needed an open roster spot to complete the trade. They will still waive SD.

I think Sekou was just absorbed into our TPE so it only cost the $110 we sent out

    I was afraid of this.

I was hoping to see more Khyri before this happened.

He is better than Lamb and some of the other end of bench guys IMO.

What exactly did the rockets do to classify this as "all this"

Here is my take from reading the internet...

Stone sees picks as the most liquid form of asset.
There is a cap to how much any team can spend to buy picks. Possibly $3mm per year.
Stone did not dip into that pot to get this pick.
One more asset to trade, or more likely add to another trade.

I don't understand the gnashing of teeth.

Yes, it's for a unprotected 2nd round pick in 2024.

People will mash their teeth about this the same way they did about Mason Jones (who is no longer in the league). The fact is every minute taken by a guy like Thomas, Bey, or Lamb is a minute taken away from Christopher, Brooks, or Garuba. We have too many mouths to feed and we’re past the “throwing everything at the wall and pray” phase.

$3.8M for one of the last picks of the draft 3yrs out? after the POS owner pinched every possible nickel when we actually needed to spend $ to compete smh

Sekou was one of the last Pistons to get booted from the roster, who wasn't hand picked by Troy Weaver.

He was also playing behind Blake and then Jerami Grant. Grant made Sekou obsolete so to speak. Sekou also didn't play well in the limited 15 min he did get. He's a 4, and didn't fit as a SF nor Center according to Dwayne Casey. If Sekou couldn't play meaningful minutes on a 20+ win NBA team, then an omen of an early NBA exit.

Honestly between the Wood/Theis combo, Alperen and Usman, we're also loaded at the 4 spot. No room for Sekou. Rockets is helping the Nets dump salary and bought a 2nd round pick

aside from the owner, today this transaction just doesn't make much sense to me. unless you definitively foresee hyperinflation ahead, why spend this amount for a meager chance at getting a player in the top of the 2nd round, which even if we get lucky and do end up "hitting the jackpot" -- the odds of that 2nd round pick ever panning out are S L I M

So people are mad when Fertita doesn't spend and you are mad when he does spend? LMAO.

Who cares if the odds are slim? A 2nd round pick is better than none. We used 2nd round picks to get both KPJ and Kmart Jr.
