It’s never a bad thing to add more picks, even if it’s a second rounder.

What if the most valuable asset in the transaction turns out to be the trade exception we used?

We may wish we had it for trades later in the year.

Rockets already have 8 players 25 or younger on team.

How many more kids can this team add without becoming the Kings, just cycling through high draft picks?

We cannot keep all the FRP/young players.

Especially when it comes to pay them, that bill will come due in the same season. And then again season after that. Rinse and repeat.

Fxxxxxck! Dombouya better be a total scrub man. I like this kid he is only 20. Way better prospect to target than freaking Ben Simmons.

You can trade them later on. Even if its just a pick swap thats still something you didnt have before.

Don't trade exceptions expire? Did we just get an extra second round pick out of the Harden trade?

Trade exceptions just allow for the contracts to be absorbed legally for the trade rules, we are still going to pay Seku’s contract, we essentially swapped 4 mill cash for the Nets 2024 2nd, definitely market value at best.

Im curious about the timing here and the Kyrie Irving situation. If Kyrie really is going to miss all of the home games because he’s an idiot, the Nets have got to be freaking out. They have ZERO time of Harden and Durants prime to waste and have to be all in.

Stone obviously has got to have some report going with the Nets front office after what had to be a very lengthy process in trading Harden there. Perhaps he’s doing them a solid now to help with salaries in good faith that they’ll try hard to work John Wall into a potential Kyrie deal to go to a third team or something.

I think it’s smart on Stones part to overpay for a 2nd rounder seeing as it’s just Tillman’s money in this case… if that solid gets Stone in the room for an upcoming Kyrie deal.

And yes if Kyrie is going to do this BS they gotta look to trade him to a red state team and get real talent around Harden and Durant.

i’m wondering if the front office anticipates him being picked up off waivers and then that team assumes the rest of his contract payments?

    Prediction:
In 2 years we use the same 2nd rounder packaged with another young player that hasnt panned out for the same “luxury tax savings” that the nets just used the pick for.

In 2023-24 KD will be 35 and James will be 34yo. They’ll still be monsters, but I expect them to take it a bit easier in the reg season. This could be a mid 2nd rond pick. Gems have been found in that range, you get a shot…

My bet is Kyrie is just doing the anti-vax stuff for attention and will just fall in line eventually. Similar to how he made noise about being against the Orlando bubble and saying they should cancel the NBA season to show support for BLM when he was already injured and out for the season anyway. Or before that with his flat earth stuff.

This goes to show that Clutchfans will never be happy, not even when we land unprotected draft picks 3 years into the future for zero assets.
