I'm glad you do, I'm not sold on it, like I said earlier this guy would be a terrific back-up for Yao, unfortunately that won't be happening and he will probably start, as a result this team is lotto bound, as much as that hurts me to say.

Seems good for a RA type offense. still have to watch him play in the NBA before my opinion's formed

The plan was to have a 7 foot starting center. We got him. So I doubt Morey plans and Adelman to bring him off the bench for us to be undersized to start off the game every night like we would have before. I suspect if he can play just a little he will be the starter for sure. Hayes as good as he is on the defense hurts as much this guy would give you on offense. Its an equal trade almost except that Anderson gives you size to deter guards from driving to the hoop on every play and teams having size to outmatch us physically on every play. Hayes is good but he will not start nor should we want him to start over a 7 footer. Again Hayes defense to Andersons offense makes things negligible and height wins out then.

I'm not sure why everyone is so excited. He seems like a total scrub to me. Basically the unholy combination of Steve Novak and Jackie Butler. He would be a good pickup at the league minimum, but if we're going to have to pay him several million per year for several years, he's just going to be one of those bad contracts that we have to lose cash/draft picks to get rid of (hello steve francis, jackie butler, etc.). A slow center who can't rebound and can't play defense is exactly what we do NOT need. We've always needed someone long/athletic/good defender.

I guess some people preferred the likes of Eddy Curry or Rasho instead? It's not like you can just pluck away a starting center out of nowhere. Hell, half the teams in the league still don't have a real center. Beggars can't be choosers.

Unless we are getting a superstar C like Gasol or Dwight Howard to replace Yao's dominance, we are still lotto bound.

That's not a bad thing. Look at what happened to David Robinson's Spurs.

ok im buying into the hype. he looks like a tougher version of pau gasol on the offensive end but with no defense or rebounding.

    Brooks
    Ariza
    Battier
    Scola
    Anderson

    50+ wins here we go!!!!

Great low risk move! We have a one year starter and then solid backup to Yao! I think we will let TMAC play out his contract and just might make a run for that 8th playoff spot. Plus, this will be one helluva exciting team to watch this year.

I wish I could order my league pass already on the early early early bird special.

    ;)

Its either a Center or Chuck Hayes. i for one go with a center. Yao has a backup now. Again this is one move and maybe more coming. Then we have to consider Tmac coming back and this is the stop gap until we know what happens to Yao and maybe just until 2010. I am not totally in love with the move but for what we where looking at before this absolutely great compared to nothing and garbage of the nothingness that was left in free agency. Atr least this maove has potential. The ones left over never fulfilled their potential and are already proven 0 production for every team. id rather go with a good quality 7 footer prospect to one guranteed useless already we had to choose from left over after Gortat was signed.

Looks like our resident Australians aren't too thrilled about Anderson, but I think its a good move for a back-up center, who will be pushed into the starting lineup due to Yao's injury. If our roster stays the same I expect Scola and Hayes at the 4/5 positions, with Anderson eventually startling once he gets use to the NBA game.

I'm not sure about that. We have really good rebounding bigs but remember Mcgrady and Artest got their fare share of rebounds. We won't have them. Our perimeter players won't be much help on the boards. If this guy is a poor rebounder, there will be too much pressure on Scola/Landry. Opposing teams could steamroll us on the boards just by keeping track of one guy on the court.

I'm not like some here. I won't judge a move by a few youtube clips. I'll wait to see him play. Who knows, he might be like Brad Miller or Okur. He might be a pretty good rebounder that just has low stats because he takes so many jumpers away from the basket, I'd be OK with that.

We are going to be a lotto team this year, because Yao ming and T-Mac are out.

The only way to compete against the Spurs or Lakers frontline would be to trade Yao for another superstar C either Gasol or Dwight Howard. Those 2 teams are not gonna part with their C for an injured Yao.

I'm thinking a taller Rockets Juwan Howard type contribution. Semi serviceable starter/backup relied upon to start.

Sorry DD, you need to temper your excitement on this one.

Ordinarily, I'd love to talk up the Aussies, but being realistic this is not a good splash at all.

Looking forward to reading the inevitable player bashing when Andersen flops (based on the overwhelming positive feelings for him today)
