Oh, I read the post alright, and I don't think my reading comprehension is the problem here. According to your logic, why would the Rockets get any vets to help now? We are in rebuilding after all. That is your gripe against Andersen isn't it? So why would we need or want Dooling or Jarvis Hayes? Yes I know for general purposes we do not have a SG. Did you know for all general purposes we do not have a C either? So why is the 28 year old Jarvis Hayes a good stop gag in your opinion, yet the 29 year old Andersen does not fit a rebuilding team? And I also agree that a team out there looking for a young PG will probably offer Lowry 3.5 mil a year. I don't know, maybe even a rebuilding team looking for young players. Like the Rockets! Hey, a novel concept. In all honesty I do not know who will turn out the better NBA player in the end, Brooks or Lowry. As of today, Lowry is probably better at every aspect of the game save for shooting. And that can be improved. But this is all debatable and besides the point. What isn't debatable, and completely on point, is that they are both head and shoulders above Josh Freak'in Boone. Again, the point of this response is not to further berate your trade proposal, but rather point out the many holes in that hunk of swiss cheese you call an argument. But this can not be stressed enough. Josh Boone is a taller, more athletic, yet rebounds worse, defends worse, mind bogglingly shoots FTs worse, and just in general WORSE version of Chuck Hayes. Yet you want to throw in a young, improving PG, who Morey has admittedly been targeting for years, along with the REAL Chuck Hayes, to get him. And somehow, in some crazed bizarro alternate dimension, this is fitting to a rebuilding team. While getting Andersen, for free, isn't. In conclusion, I would like to modestly stand up for my reading comprehension, and point to your flagrant disregard for logic in my defense.
i do like the pick up ,he seems like he'll blend into the high post offense like eggs on pancakes.now think about it who in the west is going to punish him down low other than Duncan (super soft) or Gasol (weak ) and lets not forget that we are going to be offesive orienteded this year. the good thing is that we get to keep our great perimeter defense cus i know many wanted a battier for center trade whcih would have broken this team apart. MOREY STRIKES AGAIN! T-MAC WE ALL WANTED U BACK , DONT LISEN TO THE CRITICS.
I hope you're right... but you're basically asking everyone to up their average by 3-9 points. I know our two stars are out this coming season, and we'll play @ a faster pace; but I still think this is way to optimistic. Dark blue numbers are their PPG last season.
While I wouldn't get to excited about what he can do, this is a good move if we are not paying him too much. There is certainly worse big men in the NBA and his offensive game is good, although at times he does look a bit clumsy. He will stretch the D and will slot into Adelmans system well. While he is not the greatest on the boards, be careful not to read too much into Euro stats, as they are always lower in all categories to what you would consider 'good' in the NBA. As an Aussie I am thrilled to have an Aussie on the Rockets and also if Patty Mills makes the roster for the Blazers and Jawai for the Mavs, will give us 4 players in the NBA... pretty darn good considering we have rarely had more than one.
I like that he's athletic. But really? This is our center? Everybody sure is high on a guy who has weak numbers in Euro league. At least he's a big.
Not much but here is a couple of box scores against NBA competition in the preseason last year. One V Lakers and this better output V Clippers
This guy is going to be great for us. Sure his defense may need work but that will improve as he gets NBA playing time. Scola has improved tremendously in his tenure here. On a side note I don't understand peoples problem with his age. Sure he is 29 but most bigs play longer than guards anyways, especially bigs with a jump shot. Also while I like the youth movement its always good to have some older guys to keep the locker room in check. There can be a huge difference in maturity from a 23 to 29.
He's not a great player at all. But he's big(ger than our guys) and he's cheap (I hope so). Low risk medium reward deal.
I am so proud to be an Aussie now haha. However, to be honest I haven't seen much of him as he only played one season in Australia's NBL before heading over to Europe. Most of what I've seen of him is in international games for Aus, and to be honest, I wasn't very impressed.
This move def adds some much needed depth ! I like our current mix of youngins and veterans. If Mcgrady returns sooner than later, this Rockets team will coast into the playoffs. Of course, I would love for Morey to get some able bodies here for Mcgrady, but a trade is looking grim right now. One thing is for sure..we're not tanking!
I like this trade! Since I live in Europe it's easy to follow Euroleague games and I watched many times David Andersen play and that guy is a really really good big man. Props to Morey for making this happen, this guy is great
