Same situation as Scola. He had been begging to come to the NBA. His deadline to get in the NBA is tomorrow, July 15th. Atlanta was forced to trade him or lose him for a year, if they didn't sign him by the deadline.
Bingo. The last time we traded for "future considerations" (in the Novak deal), they turned out to be the option to swap 2nd rounders with the Clippers in 2011.
I agree that he doesnt solve our long term issues, but man at least we have someone tall for the near future. LOL
just because he can shoot means he is brad miller? miller is a tough defender, a good rebounder, and a solid passing big man.
Nice pickup. Not a perm starting center but he will do while Yao is out. Plus once Yao gets back, should be legit backup material. Hopefully he playswell enough to keep yaos minutes down till playoffs.
Cambyman and Kaman are rebounding monsters. So his rebounding won't be to high. Look at all there scorers: Davis, Gordon, Thorton, Kaman and they are trying to bring in Iverson.
i dunno about this david anderson..where not getting no younger with him,,and he looks a little slow to me,with no grit in his game..i hope he pans out ,,i really do....does,,pete chilcut ,,serge zwikker,,and jason collier ring a bell here....gordat is unhappy with orlando,,seems we could have went after him again.....
i texted adam wexler from 610.. he said reminds him of pau's game and bargnani's game.. http://610nightshift.blogspot.com/
all very good points, but who do you think, out of who were just drafted, will outperform Blake Griffin?
I don't get it, how does a team that won on the merits of it's tough defense going to integrate a guy who scouts say can't play D? I am not worried about this guy on the offensive end of the floor. A jump shooting center has value for our team. But our biggest hole wasn't scoring in the playoffs after Yao went out, it was defending the paint. We got killed inside. Is this the man to stop that? That's my big question.
I think we can agree on that, then, I hope you're wrong, too, and not because I want you to be wrong, but because I want the team to do well. Haven't seen him play besides highlights/clips I've searched out. But once again, (and I never said that you stated the team would be centered around Andersen) the team won't be centered around Andersen, so it's not like our hopes/dreams/aspirations are resting on how well Andersen is going to play. I think we needed a center, and desperately, and the acquisition of one (David Andersen) will make a huge difference when we play a team with bigs. But, I think this team will do well, not because of David Andersen or whoever else would have been in his place, but because of how this team has played through injury, adversity, weird things, and because our game is a team game. We've done very well without stars and we've adapted. That's all I meant, that Andersen was never meant to be a savior so I don't expect him to be one, just a roll-filler until Yao comes back healthy. I don't think Andersen is the difference between us being lotto-bound/playoff-bound/whatever and not being those things. I just think he'll help the team out a lot. The other guys are going to have to play well, which I expect them to do. Now, I'm tired.
DD why you liking the trade???... we will use some of the MLE to sign David Andersen and the rest on our rookies...I think that leaves out somedody... Von Wafer! LOL
Stephen Curry. Don Nelson's high pace and run and gun style gives everybody lot of possessions. Jonny Flynn. Crappy t-pups, he will get the ball in his hands all the time. Free-reign.
As I recall, we did get destroyed in the paint butttt we also couldn't score on the road...70 points in game 7 with an 11-0 run to end the game doesn't sound good and if I remember correctly game 5 wasn't much better.
I've never seen him play, but the descriptions make him sound more like Okur-type than Pau Gasol. Does he have 3-point range?
