we were 3-1 or 2-1 against them last year (can't remember), yes we own them but they did beat us once
Roddy B is a b.a. Kid can score in bunches...him and Lowry have different games though. I think it's somewhat tough to compare the two.
To have a chance at a deep playoff run and shot at the finals, Yao has to be there for us as well as the backup C that Morey is trying to get. This team is deep enough to withstand some injuries, but only if these injuries are short term in nature. ps. Today I reflected upon Morey seemingly failure to bring us a center last year. It wasn't really his fault, as his hands were tied with $40M worth of contracts not playing. I believe if there was any significant money left last year, Morey could have gotten a decent rebound/shot blocking center.
Depends on 2 things: Yao and Defense. These are interlinked to a degree since the Rockets lacked a big man to anchor the defense. But they also played poor defense and lost games they shouldn't have last season. Shooting may ebb and flow, but defense has to be there every night.
#5 in the West is a nice start. We should end up #2, right behind LA, knocking on their front door. The fact that the Rockets are underdogs, makes each win that much sweeter. Get excited folks!!! Get your popcorn ready!!! Lets go Clutch City!!!
That sound about right. I dont expect the Thunder to make a leap past us though just because they played the Lakers hard as an 8th seed. So What? We played the lakers hard too as a higher seed the year beofre. We will be more like the 4th seed and Oklahoma still doesnt have the right players around Durant to pass us up. Also I am not too sure about Dallas Marevicks direction anymore. These guys at some point are gonna get too old to compete and fall below us. They are going nowhere adding nothing and they are clearly old with Dirk and Kidd now. They might fall below us too and that makes us 3rd in the West. I say between 3 and 4 for the Rockets easily and could easily be as high as second too. Denver isnt that solid either in depth. The West is as wide open as ever. All we have to do is get past the Lakers. We can go to the finals.
I don't care if you're adding ten often injured All Stars and coming off a 42-40 season, you don't count your chickens before they have hatched. The Rockets are only adding one often injured All Star. It would be wiser, based on history, to temper your expectations and chill with the "we are contenders" talk.
Never temper expectations. Thats only slang for expecting to be losers. I never expect losses or anthing less than the best the team can possibly do. I am not that excited if I temper expectations. The game gets duller. When you lose its not that great but you move on. Higher expectations are always better goals. Even if you dont reach them.
If everyone stays healthy, especially yao, we are in the top 4 easily. Everyone in the west is getting old, we have a legit young core that can hang with any of them.
its fair for now but we're gona be higher than that once we gel and hit our stride, even he stated ranking us at 5 may be an injustice this ranking because Yao returning to form will have us top 4 or 3 easily.. we beat the Mavs twice last yr and theyre ranked 2nd (given they made some nice front court moves
OKC beat us towards the end of the season when we had a lot injuries and Hilton Armstrong managed to get a bit of PT in that game. they dropped something like 140 points on us.
The Rockets always surprise remember last year when were going to be one of the worst of the west and we just missed the playoffs
I have us at number 3 in the west...6 in the league, and a legit shot at the ring (i had to hesitate a little before typing that). Let's see what happened as the season starts and progresses.... man, I CAN'T WAIT!!!
#11 overall in the nba.com midsummer rankings with us jumping six spots from the end of last season http://www.nba.com/2010/news/powerrankings/07/12/midsummer/index.html
I still think Houston is better than OKC right now. Maybe not in the near future with all that young talent, but this season, yes. I know they took the Lakers to six and all but, is it really that impressive? Houston took them to seven the year before. And perhaps because it's Dallas I have blinders on, but they don't impress me that much when it comes playoff time.
All good reasons why they will be a contender in the future....but.... Correct me if I'm wrong, there is only one true "big" on that list and he is an unproven rookie. Not that I don't think they will be good in the future, but this team isn't NEAR complete enough to make a serious run through the West. Ibaka is a decent defensive 4 but he isn't dominant and still gets in foul trouble on stupid fouls. I think OKC ends up a 5 seed. Young teams generally don't have the consistency to win enough games to end up in the top half of the brackets. ...people always tend to overvalue upcoming young teams - see Portland 3 years ago. I think Houston ends up a 4 seed this year for the first time in a really long time.
