CP, I haven't gone the route of comparing him versus Oscar or Moochie because I don't think we will check him out unless we get a pick around 20 (maybe the Seattle pick). So for now I have tabled this. Dixon does have the heart and desire and (IMO) is a even better shooter with better court instincts than Mobley. He is not as laterally quick or as athletic or as long as Mobley--that is why Mobley will probably always be better than him. No one is saying he is or will be equal to Hornecek--simply that we see a lot of similarities of him to this near all-star who had a long career being a nontraditional relatively nonathletic SG. Bringing up CM I think supports the argument for taking Dixon on the now very longshot he is available to us with a 2nd round pick (I didn't want to go here but have). Should we have not drafted Mobley simply because we had just drafted a PG and and SG who we thought were better and had other guards singed to long term contracts/long term promises? If Drew and MD were better as we expected yet CM became the player he is today someone would have had to traded anyway--that would have been a good thing. It is better to have tradeable players in over stocked positions than mediocre guys who play adequate for you but who aren't worth much in trades. Given bigtime multi-threat multi-dimesional college tweeners like CM and now perhaps Arenas (total idiots who had Forte ahead of Arenas on their draft boards) are showing they slipped more than they should have (obviously in CM case, probably in Arenas's case) is another reason to take a long look at Dixon if it might be reasonable (get that late 1st, 2nd round pick). CP, besides, I am sure you know that the odds of 2nd rounder making it in the league are not that good. By that time (2nd round) if you think you see a player who will make it in the league you take him. If you think Juan Dixon or any other guard for that matter are simply the best prospects/players on the board you take them, if all prospects are near equal then you might try a 2nd rounder for need.
I don't know cuz Juan will be a lottery pick probably. Plus that's too many guards...Cat, Stevie, Mooch. Juan is good enough to get more than just spot minutes. The Rox just need an inside post player who can score and some backcourt defense because God knows Stevie or Cat would rather DO ANYTHING ELSE than play defense.
