the fact of the matter, is that all the guys we wanted that were dealt went for more worth than we would have given. We had no low first round picks. They would not have accepted the 24 nets pick protected to 20, because they know it would not have been sent. They obviously wanted the players they got more than the one's we could include Tate, Landale, Holiday, Boban. The only available assets we wanted Bridges, Brogdon, Carusso didn't move and would have required one of the nets picks or swaps at a minimum. The Rockets obviously value Jalen more than to lump him with multiple first round picks for what was available. The other aspects is that getting Olynk or Gafford probably wasn't going to propel into the play-in anyway. So it would have been a waste of assets. You guys blasting Stone for this are way off base.
That question is kind of putting myself in an unfair advantage being able to cherry pick names like Grimes, Herb Jones, Hardy, etc. IMO though the picks might not be bad if they were still on the roster but were developed properly. Especially Garuba. Christopher was a huge stretch though even on draft night. He screamed 2nd rounder combo guard who at best was a 6th man scorer. Sometimes you make a bad pick, and realize that the scouting was wrong on a player. However you make lemons out of lemonade instead of cutting them right away. Look we have how many G-Leaguers on our roster now AND Boban???.... There's no reason why Garuba and TyTy (while not as good as their scouts projected) shouldn't still be here working with our coaches to start to break into the rotation this season. I also don't know why if you are a GM drafting unknown prospects that you consider swings for the fence, why you aren't taking a swing with a 7 footer like Koloko . Like can you not at least measure Garuba and realize that the guy is 6'8". That's not a swing for the fence. You better know if you are taking an undersized big that they f-cking play.
If we offered anything like what was reported and Brooklyn turned it down, they made a major mistake and saved us from doing the same. That team is looking mid-lottery and will have nothing to show for it. If we're determined to trade away our stash of picks I hope we can find a better, younger player than Bridges during the offseason.
I mean it is already tore down. They have the 8th worst record in the NBA. Which means they are in the bottom 25 percentile of the league. In 2 years they could possibly be average. Next year though likely in the bottom 10 teams again.
Not sure what the hell the Nets are doing. They don't have picks to tank themselves. Bridges is a good 3rd option, but as your main option, makes no sense to keep him around. They really are overthinking things over there and I'm glad they were idiots not take to their picks back. Someone else always having to save Stone from committing really stupid mistakes.
Haha chump Philadelphia. Must be SoOoOo terrible having a GM treating his players like assets!!!!! Thank god we have a GM who doesn't do that!!!!! Yikes.
The crazy part turning down the Grizz offer for Bridges is it would have meant like 8 #1 picks for old Durant. That's an ideal tear down. Clear cap space, you have all those picks, then go sign the next Kyrie/Durant team up that wants to play in NY... gives you draft assets to build supporting team around a couple stars whether you draft or trade picks for cheap veterans.
We dodged a bullet there. I think their plan is tread water through next season and then take their chances in free agency with a windfall of cap space after next summer. As long as they can re-sign Claxton this offseason, they should be able to hold the line for one year. If they strike out in free agency, then it might be time for a sell-off.
Didn't Blockbuster blow it and go bankrupt? Thats not the return I want on those picks. I want a Netflix deal.
I'm seeing next year's lineup looking like: PG - Fred VanVleet / Amen Thompson SG - Traded For / Cam Whitmore SF - Dillon Brooks / Tari Eason PF - FA / Jabari Smith Jr. ..C - Alperen Sengun / Steven Adams Rockets will have to use Jalen and the BKN Pick/s to get a starting caliber shooting guard. I would target Nic Claxton hard in the off-season to pair next to Sengun. Rockets remove: - Jalen Green - Aaron Holiday - Jeff Green - Boban Marjanovic
If the Rockets lose out, they still have a chance to keep their own pick, maybe that's what the FO had in mind by doing nothing at the trade deadline.
Must be cool to be a role player but feeling like a superstar during buy out season when everybody wants to roll out the red carpet if you are worth a damn. The other night he was hanging out with Mark Cuban, tonight he relaxes with Rob Pelinka.
