Paul is a ten year old Lambo that we just traded two 5-year old BMW 3-series and two brand new Nissan Altimas for.
Our best chance to land PG is for Hayward to go ahead and sign with Boston. With the nooze a bit tighter around the neck, Indy will be more inclined to Morey's Jedi tricks.
http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/...ning_high_demands_in_potential_trade_for_paul The source added that Houston, which entered the George fray after trading yesterday for Chris Paul but has far less than the Celtics to offer after clearing out its roster for the point guard, has received a similarly steep demand from Pritchard.
Also sounds like a proposal was submitted to Pritchard and the ball is literally in their court. If I were an Indy fan I'd hope he would do the right thing and settle for what Boston offers now rather than wait till midseason and lose value on him.
Boston won't give him any of those top 5 picks just not going to happen. Paul George is a great player but he's not putting the Celtics over the top in the east let alone competing for a title. Ainge knows his best option is to keep his picks draft well and let this young guys grow and win. 5 years from now brown taytum and whoever else they get with the Brooklyn and lakers/sixers picks will only be 23-24 years old and ready to start really competing. If Paul George is to truely compete for championship, he's gotta be the 2nd maybe even the 3rd best player on the team. Only Cleveland and Houston can currently offer that.
Rockets are still far from contending. I'll put it into layman's terms for their position: Houston Rockets: P.G. - PAUL (ELITE) S.G. - HARDEN (ELITE) S.F. - ARIZA (AVERAGE) P.F. - ANDERSON (AVERAGE - ABOVE AVERAGE) ..C. - CAPELA (ABOVE AVERAGE) BENCH - (BELOW AVERAGE) Golden State Warriors P.G. - CURRY (ELITE) S.G. - THOMPSON (ELITE) S.F. - DURANT (ELITE) P.F. - GREEN (ELITE) ..C. - PACHULIA (AVERAGE) BENCH (ABOVE AVERAGE) They would still crush. They need George, Anthony and a bench to compete.
Indiana's asking price is just way too high. Our best bet would be if neither Hayward or Griffin goes to Boston in FA. That would make Ainge less inclined to make a deal for Paul George and Paul George less inclined to commit to Boston long term. That would give us a shot. If Boston and LA pass on trading for Paul George then we might be able to swoop in and land him like we did Harden. Harden wouldn't be here if GS and Washington didn't pass on trading for him. They could've beat our offer.
I have a feeling they are going to hold on to him till he's worthless. They're unlucky because they are not dealing with any stupid teams who might overpay. Once it interferes more with other plans, the buyers will have less and be willing to pay less. Once we're in season, his value further erodes. Not to mention the Pacers will have postponed rebuild. The moron is probably thinking "we're in no rush, we can get that package later". When will they learn?
