Pacers sat tonight. 27 & 28 are out but I suppose Clarkson &/or Randle will still be available later? (Which they didn't want to begin with) and I suppose whatever the Celtics were offering could still be available later? Wizards? Porter? Oubre? That's S&T/wait until FA Clippers? Griffin nor Paul are going to Indiana. Nothing else to really offer. Cavs? Love? Already reported that's dead & no interest. Blazers? "Didn't move the needle" whatever they were offering. Spurs? Didn't move Aldridge for a potential pick. Who else? Again, possible Lakers and Celtics have standing offers that can be made later but the rest of these offers aren't getting better.
If you don't mind me asking, what would your Rockets scenario be? Where do we fall? Do you personally want George here even at the cost of our depth?
Morey does his best work in the second round, like the guy at the bar that waits til last call to start hitting on drunk women
when its time to pony up and make trades those 2nd round picks look like ASSCHECKS, to a team looking to give up their star player. If you constantly miss in the 1st round you are not a quality gm
Hell yeah! Ideally they would have gotten it done before FA (which I guess is still possible but we'll see), then you can go replace some of that depth you lost. Long term, no, not concerned even if he was one and done. They got all or most of these guys in free agency, why can't they do it again? They can't find an Eric Gordon, a Trevor Ariza, a Patrick Beverley, a Lou Williams, a Ryan Anderson again/in free agency? Only thing that would hurt losing is future pick(s). As for where the Rockets stand/fall, I have no idea. Kinda surprised they're still in this to be honest. They don't have any standout pieces. Some good role players, sure. But what will they need Beverley or Ariza or Williams or Gordon for if they're rebuilding? (Other than Gordon being some hometown feel good story to try and sell to fans, ha) Dekker? Harrell? Meh ... As a Pacers fan, wouldn't be interested. But if the Rockets can pull it off, absolutely go for it.
- Talks got serious with Boston but sometime in the first round it got stalled - There is no expectation in Indiana of a Paul George deal tonight but that could change...
P.S. - Morey already got his 1st Rd Pick last year in a trade. His name is Sweet Lou Williams. Ever heard of him? Draws fouls only second to Harden, hits 3's like a pimp hits hoes and is 1 of 3 choices for 6th Man of the Year. Boom! Morey did his job in this draft. Now go shake his hand.
http://www.indystar.com/story/sport...t-j-leaf-dont-subtract-paul-george/414275001/ Beyond selecting Leaf, the Pacers decided Thursday was not the time to complete a trade involving George in an attempt to receive the most compensation possible. Pritchard engaged in trade talks with teams such as the Houston Rockets, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Lakers. The Washington Wizards, the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Clippers have also been interested in acquiring George, according to several media reports. But Pacers, according to multiple league sources leading up to the draft, didn’t feel pressure to get a deal done by Thursday. George, who has one year left on his contract, informed Pritchard on Saturday through his agent that he intends to leave the Pacers as a free agent after next season. George wanted to give Pritchard the opportunity to plan the Pacers’ future accordingly. George intends to join the Lakers, his hometown team, when he becomes a free agent. Pritchard wants to receive the most compensation possible for George, but the All-Star’s value throughout the league, especially with his known desire to join the Lakers, is limited. One source said George’s trade value would continue to drop if a deal was not in place after the draft.
