I think the number there is offensive rating, not points per game. An offensive rating of 106 is definitely above average, but the best offensive teams usually have a rating closer to 110.
Don't tell the players that. They need take every game seriously. Remember, we ended up needing to win a crapload of games late in the season to get homecourt over Utah(not that that did much good in the end of course).
On ESPN Rockets r ranked No. 4. What a load of crap. They should have been no.1. Spurs played Portland, Memphis n Sac all crappy teams n they r ranked no.1?? Celtics played only 2 games n barely won against Toronto n they r no. 2?? Detroit has been playing great so they r ranked good but i think they should have been no.2. Rockets beat Lakers who had won 4 staraight home openers n Rockets beat Jazz in Salt Lake which is very tough n easy win against Portland. Looks like Rockets have had it tough n should have been put much higher than No.4!!! Should have been: 1) Rockets 2) Pistons 3) Spurs 4) Celtics
I change my rankings. should have been: 1) Rockets: Beat Lakers n Jazz 2) Hornets: Beat Denver. 3) Pistons: Played without Rip 1 game n still won easily. 4) Pacers: No one expected them to start this good. 5) Spurs: Beat crappy teams but easily. 6) Celtics: Beat Cavs n barely won against Toronto.
they beat a hot denver team on their homecourt and not even playing at their best. hornets are pretty good. but it's only 3 games so it's nothing to be proud of. if we win these next 2 games, then we're deserving of this early #1. i mean, we could fall out of the top 5 next week just as easy.
here's the clip from the si poll haha 1 - Houston Rockets McGrady already owns the season's top scoring game (47 points vs. the Jazz), but that's not why the Rockets rate the early edge in these Rankings. They are here because as they wait for Adelman's high-octane offense to take hold, they have shown they can still play defense like they did under Jeff Van Gundy. In other words, opponents don't know what to prepare for right now.
