Thank God for Leslie Alexander stepping all over Maury and putting him in his place. We are very lucky to have Les and Mike.
Look at it this way... new coach, new offensive system, new players, new young players... IT CAN ONLY GET BETTER.
I posted something like this right after the MDmA hiring. We had defensive issues going on all last year, but not during the playoffs. Our real issue was putting up points on the Warriors. I felt like Les Alexander saw it that way. I'm not about to say I saw this coming, but I could see what Les was thinking when he hired MDmA. I'm glad it's worked out so far and I'm happy to look in the mirror at half of myself and tell it I told you so with the half that saw potential. I'm just kidding, only like 13% of me was thinking it was going to work out great.
Right after the MDA hire, Maori said (paraphrasing here), "After the year we had last year, when our defense was usually pretty bad, the obvious thing to do is bring in a defensive-minded head coach. But we ran the numbers on teams that did exactly that and the results were usually not good, so we just looked for the best coach we could find." Last year's defense was so bad because the team was dissolving in Dwight Howard's acid bath and nobody gave a **** most nights. This year the culprit is gone and the players are having fun and trying hard.
