PG:Lowry, Dragic(SG), Flynn, Lynn SG:MArtin, Lee SF:Budinger, Morris, Parsons PF:Scola, Patterson, Adriens C: Dalembert, Hill, Thabbet Williams to D-league, he has all the talent but can't play "system" B-Ball. I think they will keep him on the roster though for athleticism alone.
No idea, but I would be looking to unload KMart, Scola, anyone for future picks..... And Scola is my favorite player in years, but this team needs to go young, and increase trade value for young players, if the New Orleans fiasco proved anything it is that teams want upside, not peaked players. DD
this is ridiculous. Have you been watching the games? Aside from the first half on the first Spurs game, he's played well within the system. I'd say he's one of our best passers and the second best playmaker behind KLow.
Actually it proved what David Stern wanted for that franchise. It seems Demps the GM was fine with the peaked players you are talking about.
Only first and 2nd year players can be sent to the Dleague, none of the 09ers can go, only: Morris, Parsons, PPat and any other rookie I believe are eligible. DD
Maybe in a normal year but ... This year has a compressed schedule. McHale and other NBA HCs may very go from 7-8 man rotations to 10+ rotations, just to keep everybody's legs fresh and to guard against injuries (especially the older players).
Since this is a shortened season, I think Mchale will get at least 2 years. Martin will probably be gone by then. If i remember correctly the only player left from the last playoff run 3 years ago is Scola. D Morey is constantly looking to improve/change the roster. So in our case its more likely a player will be gone b4 a coach. I agree with DD that the team needs to look for younger players. We are in a endless cycle(possibly sterns fault) and its time to break out.
Basketball is a team sport. Moneyball loves his FTAs and three point shooting. Moneyball hates his defense. With the way the Rockets are configured currently, I think other teams would value him more.
We don't have many older players. Scola is Mr. healthy, Kevin, and Sam I Am. That's it. Anyone missing?
Scola and Martin would allow a 2 for 1 trade for a star/superstar making around $20M. However, there are not many of those and what team would part with that player? And would that player fill a position of need?
You sure. Last time I checked he was already on the way out for Gasoft. Stern vetoed but man that was close.
K. Lowry K. Martin T. Williams L. Scola or P. Patterson S. Dalembert Bench: Dragic Lee Bud Morris Scola or Patterson Hill Thabeet Lin or Flynn the dreaded 13th man I have a feeling that if he isn't being showcased for trade purposes, Scola wil come of the bench this season. It will give some experience to the second unit, he will be a scoring spark and it will give our team an opportunity to play & develop a healthy Patterson. I quite like Our team for this upcoming shortened season, imagine adding J. smooth or Dwight to what we have! We have some young athletic scorers, an awesome backcourt, ( you can dis Martin all you like but you have to admit that what he does he does well ) we have some depth and also some players with All Star potential at the 4 spot. I love my team & can't wait for the season to begin! 4-5 seed here we come!
Some of you don't seem to have any idea of how valuable Scola and Martin are in the right setting. Both have defensive shortcomings but their positives are severely undervalued. Martin is one of the most efficient guards EVER. His deadeye 3 point shooting spreads the floor like a good SG should and his crazy amount of free throw draws puts teams in the penalty early and takes the person who is guarding him usually in foul trouble. Perimeter defense is slightly overrated due to the contact rules and typically you can hide one of them if you surround them with good defenders in the backcourt. That is why someone like Iggy is the PERFECT complement to Kevin. To me, I call Philly everyday and twice on Sundays to see if I can get him for a couple of our youth and picks. If that doesn't work, then I hope that TWil can improve because his toolset is pretty close to Iggy's. As for Scola, he is a winner, period. The only two knocks on him are his age and his defense. Agewise, I'm pretty sure that he will continue playing at a high level for 2-3 more years before we see a dropoff. His game was never about athleticism anyways so at his price, I doubt that you can get another veteran that does the things he does. His defensive limitations are similar to Martin's dilemma in that he needs an elite counterpart to cover his mistakes. We'll see how Dalembert helps him to evaluate whether he can be that championship caliber PF or not. I definitely think he is because of how much positive things he brings to the table. He's clutch, can play with or around superstars, has a warrior's/in-the-trenches mentality, makes all the right plays. That being said, I'm not opposed to trading them to get a clear upgrade (Gasol/Nene) but you have to understand that giving them away for mediocre picks or cap space or marginal talent is NOT the answer. They are not the problem.
No point in trading Kmart or scholar for younger players unless they have the potential of being better. I would trade some of our younger guys for a proven go to guy
When I started this thread, I was thinking in terms of "Pine's End" and who would get the knothole. I didn't mean to drift into trade packages. The only reason I mentioned a Flynn-Belinelli trade earlier was to solidify the roster's development end.
