This might not be thread worthy but I just had a general question..Has anyone else noticed that there hasn't been any Rocket games on a Thursday this season..Thought that was kinda odd..Anyone know if there is a certain reason for this??
Yeah, Thursday night generally reserved for nationally-televised TNT games. Rockets don't have any, don't play on TNT.
TNT has exclusive rights/games for 2 games every Thursday except for some exceptions (opening night, Holidays) during the season, plus 1 non-national game on each teams respective local broadcast. During our Tmac/Yao years, we had plenty of games on Thursday that were on TNT and a few non national games when we weren't.
Well, we can always look forward to next season, based on what our rockets have shown of themselves this year, I believe we will be scheduled for some visibility...
also it seems like TNT cannot flex any games, i think espn flexed in 4 rockets games this season next year there should be PLENTY Thursday games tho. Sunday on ABC too
Agreed. It's no wonder ESPN realized they f'd up and added a bunch of games to their ESPN rotation as the season has progressed. We had two scheduled (@ DAL, vs GSW), and they added the game vs BOS, + @POR and @ LAL. The team will easily have 4-5 games on TNT next season, and 8-10 games on ESPN / ABC
TNT seems to play a lot of Blazers games and they have the same CSN problems so maybe next season we'll be on TNT more. (Hopefully it will be a non-issue and CSN Houston will be on all Houston providers by then)
I don't think they can "flex" games because there is nothing else scheduled on Thursdays except ones that have been pre-selected by TNT. You can only flex if the game is already scheduled for that same day.
They have to show a late game, so you'll usually see A west coast team, and they can't always have the lakers on.
DunKing, I got the answer u wanted to hear... Spoiler Every Thursday is a full moon. Only then are their superpowers activated. They prowl downtown jumping from shadow to shadow, and fight crime. Remember Delfino's mysterious "illness" and the Harden and Lin's inexplicable "sprained ankles"? They are the reason we have had 0 terrorist attacks in the US since 9/11. Well, now you know. And knowing is half the battle. Spoiler
2-3 games scheduled on Thursdays. Until Harden becomes Elite or Rockets get another superstar, I don't see it happening
