I oppose to the idea of rebuilding, tear it down, start all over and fix it overnight stuff. We still have good pieces without Yao and Tmac. The way I see it is that Scola, Battier will have at least 4 or 5 good years left in them although they are 30 years old. They are durable and unique players. They are also champion players. One won the NCAA, the other Olympic. These guys know it takes more than talents alone to win. Aaron brook is only at his second year and still developing and may have a lot of upside. He's quick and can shoot the lights out coming off the bench. Lowry is a decent point guard and not afraid to take it to the rack, not afraid to make contacts and rough plays. Ron Artest, what can I say? he is tough as a nail. I hope he buys into the team concept and not try to be the hero. If the Tmac situation does not work out, I think we can get 1 or 2 really good players for him, may be not the super star type. I hope Yao can recover and still can play some basketball. It's not that all bad to have Yao play a back up role for limited minutes and he still could draw double teams because of his skills, and especially valuable at near end games when free throws matters. He can still contribute if his feet doesn't crack. May be limiting his minutes will go a long way helping him stay on his feet. I am incline to think that Yao won't demand a max contract because I think he's a reasonable person. He does not want to cripple this franchise and make himself look bad. He does not need a big contract from the rockets because he makes a lot more money from his endorsement deals with various companies. It's equally tough for Les Alexander to part way with Yao because of the business partnership. As long as Yao is on this team, it doesn't matter how many minutes he plays, he can still bring money to this franchise. It's all about money for a business. This is not your local YMCA stuff that they are running. There is no gurantee that rebuilding will get you from point A to point B. I hope everything will work out for the rox in the end.
