Here is a little something to think about all you Francis haters:

Steve Francis a "problem" that 28 other teams in the NBA would LOVE to have.

Well let them have him, for god sakes. He is continuing the stuff tonight. As these games wind down he has become decidedly selfish and seem more intent on bolstering his stats. In the first half I felt like vomiting everytime he does his signature move to a turnover, accompanied by an impassioned appeal to the refs.

I thought this time was for our boys to get exposed. Why the hell would Steve be dominating the play like we are on some playoff run. If this was my team, I would suspend Rudy for way he is coaching this team. Miami is out of the playoff, so is Cleveland, but the rockets seem to be obviously tanking at this point. The NBA should fine them, quite frankly. Damn!

I'm sorry, but can you please shutup? A team that's tanking doesn't go into double over time. Man, you've really worked up quite a grudge haven't you? Francis only had two turnovers tonight and he scored 35 points. What in the H-E-Double-Hockeysticks are you talking about? Get over it.

At first your Francis-bashing was at least somewhat merited , but now its just plain ridiculous.

NBA should fine the Rockets? Rudy should be suspended?

He scored 35 points. I'll take that any night. Other than Cuttino and KT, he has noone to pass the balls to.

Like I said, he could score 32 or 10 points, some of y'all will always hate him. That's just the way it is.

The above link best expresses my feelings about this thread.

How many point guards in the history of the league put up better numbers than Francis has this year with absolutely no post-up game? Francis was criticized last year for not taking *enough* shots and now he is at fault for "ruining" this vaunted offense that is minus Glen Rice and Mo Taylor and playing out the string?! Isiah Thomas did not win early in the first few years of his career (even with Kelly Tripucka) and neither did Allen Iverson, or Jason Kidd and those are the players most comparable to Francis.

All of the people on the BBS who are so enamored with Andre Miller over Francis might want to check out what people who follow the Cavs (including his coaches, evidentally) have to say about him. Most of the same criticisms levied here against Francis are being said about Miller, and worse. No guard, not even Michael Jordan, can win without talent around him and that has always been the case.

I differ with the opinion that Stevie has yet to learn how to dish to the open player after creating the penetration Rudy desires.

if we had any semblance of a big man who can 1) catch passes 2) dunk in a crowd instead of trying to flip a lame layup 3) finish consistently 4) rebound and 5) draw some prescence. Wink would have a field day. the reason there are 2-3 players in the paint when he drives in, is because they have no fear of leaving Cato or Collier or Thomas and griffin is on the 3 point line.

We need a Big man prescence on this team in a big way before any other position. This is why Ming is the most sensible option if we can swing it. He can instantly help this team and help Stevie and Cuttino.

Why do you want him to pass the ball so much. Why do you want him to get a lot of assists. Do you realize, with his supporting cast, if he did get a lot of assists that would mean that the Rockets would probably also shoot less the 10%?

Who do you want him to pass to? Mobley? Mobley creates himself.

Francis is our best player. I would rather have him shoot than the rookies or the scrubs on our team. If he passes alot, that takes away shot oppurtunities from our best player. By complaining about his lack of assists, you are basically saying that you would rather see Langhi and Morris jack up a ****load of threes instead of Steve actually SCORING.

I for one wish Stevie would not pass the whole game and take 40-50 shots a game. At least until Griffin progresses, and we get Mo back, and acquire a decent center.

BTW... DearRock is one of the most annoying posters on this board. He is close to being the first poster on my ignore list. Is he foreign? He seems foreign somehow, maybe Canadien.

On this issue I will now become silent until after the first five games of the new season, when we have our full complement and if the problem remain.

Yes he does, but it would be nice for Mobley to start cutting to the basket or getting free off of screens without the ball while Steve finds him as soon as he does.

Who said anything about threes? Is there some type of rule that says our non-star players aren't allowed to cross the 3-point line? Why can't they get a little closer to the basket and have Steve find them rather than wave them off only so he can drive into a double team looking for a foul, miss a lay-up and be surprised when he doesn't get the call.

I'll admit that a lot of the offense has to do with our coaches, but Steve needs to realize when he draws a double or triple team, somebody is open.

In Steve's defense, when he drives to the basket, they just stand there. It would help a great deal if they followed him to the basket instead of standing and watching. Moving targets are so much easier to spot.

That said, when Steve stops getting into duels with opposing players and plays D everynight it'll be a very different Rockets team.

I think that was a trick question, because NOBODY follows the Cavs.

    On the first paragraph:
You would think the Rockets would be able to figure this out. All they would have to do is watch the other team when the Rockets are on defense. When we help against dribble penetration, the helper's man gets a layup or more usually, a put-back.

    On the second paragraph:
One player playing D everynight won't help us.

Yes but Steve is the leader of the team, if Steve plays D, the rest of the team will follow. If they don't take his lead and play defense, trade or bench them. Period.
