Dream, Jordan, and Clyde all developed into GREAT players because they ended up being the best on their teams and were forced to carry the load. We can't assume that they would have developed into the Championship players we know if they had been together. (Though it would have been damn fun watching.)

We should have traded Sampson to Portland for the second pick. Then taken Dream at #1 and Jordan at #2.

Jordan may have more rings, but Hakeem is the reason that I first became a Rocket fan. So yes, I'm happy we drafted him. :)

6 rings are better than 2. Simple.

Lets not forget for Rocket fans, that we hate San Antonio for another reason besides the city being so crappy..

San Antonio GAVE AWAY DENNIS RODMAN for WILL PURDUE.

RODMAN grabbed like 15 boards a game, no way the Bulls win without that dude grabbing all those boards.

So I hate the Spurs for that reason.

Basically the Spurs traded Carne Assada for Ground Beef.

I hate the spurs almost as much as i dislike the Mavs. as for Perdue? well, he was a pretty handy player back in the day. he was'nt in Rodman's status or skill level, but he was a pretty good role player. nontheless, that trade was a very onesided deal. they basically gave the bulls the 3 peat right there. personally i truly believe that had it not been for Stockton's shot in game 6 of the 1997 WCF, we could have beaten the Bulls in the finals. WE WERE ONE OF THE FEW TEAMS THAT MATCHUPED well against them.

I would have loved to see Barkley vs Rodman on the boards.

Not only that, Hakeem, would have Averaged 40 and 12 against Luc useless longley. Sir Charles would have posted up rodman all night. while Rodman might have been more agile, Charles would have abused him in the post. clyde V Jordan would have been something. Eddie johonson and matt i'm the best looking guy maloney raining 3's down on the bulls. kevin willis bringing hes nononsense game. man that would have been a great matchup.

I didn't like our role players as much that year. We didn't have Max, Horry, Thorpe or Cassell.

unfortunately getting rid of Horry and Cassell were key too.
Getting Barkley allowed us to beat Seattle, but Horry provides outside shooting (heroic shooting) and has ALWAYS caused problems for Malone because of his length. Cassell was a much better play maker than Maloney.

I believe the best series would have been 1993 Rockets. Maxwell vs Jordan. damn. you know their was only one player and IT WAS NOT JOE DUMARS who didnt fear Jordan. Hell Vernon didnt fear HPD!!

I know officialy Randy Livingstons and Matt Maloney were our Primary Point guards, but i thought Clyde played alot of the Point during the Utah Series. he did a darn goodjob to. Rudy wanted experience against stockton.Randy and matt were just not upto it for a whole 48 minutes. we used Eddie johonson as our SG when clyde was running the point. Clyde tried to postup Stockton alot in that series.

We had guys like Chucky brown, Eddie Johonson, Randy Livingston, Kevin willis and antonio carr, formed a pretty experience bench. I'm not if we got got carr in the 97-98 season or the 96-97. if i had to bet my house, i'll say the 97-98 season.

I think the ugly uniforms ruined the Rockets.
    Thanks Les.

I can assure you that Hakeem's religion was of No conquence when considering him as a suitable basketball player for the Rockets. As should be the case for all religions.
If they had been selecting him in the 2006 draft things might have been different but in a negative conitation, considering how the reputation of peaceful and holy Muslims have been dragged through the mud by the actions of Muslim Terrorists.
In 2007 let us hope and pray that God will see fit to assist us all to live in peace and harmony and may God forgive all sinners!

I was a huge fan of Akeem at UH (as well as Clyde, and the rest of the guys... including coach Guy V, WHO SHOULD BE IN THE FREAKIN' HALL OF FAME!!!), so I would of wanted him over Jordan then, and nothing that's happened since has changed my opinion.
