I still can't believe the Rockets won that game in Denver. Look at the past, when teams like the 1979 Boston Celtics had down years, they made sure they were really down, and they got Larry Bird out of it. You gotta be smart.
Thanks Clutch for the excellent report. I'm still a little confused. If we end up 9th how far can we drop in the lottery?
This might be a stupid question: can we go up in the lottery say to 5 or 4 instead of 1-3? I got a little confused with Clutch's summary and I only hope that we get high enough to draft Brandon Roy!
Hi CHC ... the random lottery is only for picks 1 through 3. If the Rockets win the tiebreaker, making them 8th worst, the only possible pick spots are 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10 or 11. If the Rockets lose the tiebreaker, making them 9th worst, the only possible pick spots are 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, 11 or 12. So to answer your question - no, it's impossible for the Rockets to get the 4th or 5th pick (barring a trade, naturally). Thanks everyone for the feedback. Much appreciated.
Alot of people here are big on Shelden Williams, myself included. He'd be a great pick up for us if Roy or Carney are unavailable--which is likely.
Agreed. Roy will be gone for sure, but there's a decent chance Carney will still be available. Shelden would be a very solid pick IMO.
