My wife sucked me into this show. It's a little too American Idol for my tastes, but it's head and shoulders better than the INXS show last year, which was 100% pop. At least this one is rawk... at least, it should be with the band members involved. There are some great singers. My picks are: Lukas, the little weird guy who has some serious talent and stage presence. Dilana, the chick from Houston, who seems to like snuggling up with Brooke more than the other women do. And Toby, the Austrailan guy that the girls love who also has some mic skills. My favorite is Storm Large. Good gravy that chick is insanely sexy.
Yeah, despite all of it's flaws, this show is much better than the INXS show. I like that the band is harder on the contestants. Especially Gilby. Hell, even Dave has said some negative things this year when they needed to be said. He was way too nice last year. Although I'm still not sure why they need him. He's not in the band.
I kinda like the bald dude the best, but Lee seems to have something against him; the last guy did okay too. Everyone else seems to be acting. The chick that did Cheap Trick is ... great to look at.

The Orange County-based band Supernova has filed a complaint alleging unfair competition and trademark infringement against Mark Burnett Productions, CBS and the other minds behind the competition show Rock Star: Supernova. Lee, former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke and former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted are using the on-camera opportunity to choose the next hot, yet appropriately surly, young thing to front their new band. Which is also called, um, Supernova. Rockstar Entertainment Inc., Lee, Clarke and Newsted are all named in the suit, as well, which was filed June 27 in U.S. District Court. The original Supernova--bassist Art Mitchell, drummer Dave Collins and guitarist Jodey Lawrence, who joined the band in 1994 (the rest got together in 1989)--is looking to keep Lee and his heavy metal cohorts from using the name and to bar the CBS show from using it as part of the Rock Star title. The Pop as a Weapon musicians are also seeking the destruction of all "labels, signs, prints, packages, wrappers, containers, advertisements, electronic media and other materials bearing the Supernova mark." (Unless it's their own, of course.) The punk trio are also demanding that Rock Star's producers "publish clarifying statements that [the show] is not associated with [the original group]," stating that the defendants ignored the fact that the Supernova name was unavailable for outsider use. Per the lawsuit, Burnett's company filed seven U.S. trademark applications to corner the name Supernova, as well as two more for the title Rock Star: Supernova. "Our clients believe they have the superior right on the mark Supernova," the band's attorney, John Mizhir, told the Associated Press Tuesday. The group "has a long-standing common-law trademark right to the mark." Gary Hecker, a lawyer repping Mark Burnett Productions, said that his client has the legal right to the now-controversial name and that "the complaint is without merit." He added that because the various defendants have not yet been served with the lawsuit, they "do not have an obligation" to respond. Meanwhile, despite the fact that Rock Star had only a so-so premiere on July 5, attracting about 5.4 million viewers, the old Supernova is claiming that its future income will be compromised by the CBS show because the program will intentionally interfere with the band's business relationships. The group also stated its concern that consumers seeking out its recordings and merchandise may mistakenly purchase the newly formed Supernova's stuff instead. Two days after the band filed its complaint, Art Mitchell told MTV News that he wasn't sure what to make of the show. "We definitely put the spaceship in neutral, but we never called it quits," he said. Mitchell said that Supernova, which has put out three albums and performed at two Warped Tours, had four shows booked in July and August. Their tune "Chewbacca" played in Kevin Smith's Clerks. "It's like when you're a little kid and the bully down the street steals something from you and you don't do anything about it," Mitchell said. "But we're going to go kick some butt, dude. They probably figured we're clerks, but our drummer, Dave, is a lawyer." The drummer/attorney concurred. "You can't just waltz up and use our name," Collins told MTV News before the suit was filed. "We're willing to fight for our name, our band. We have trademark rights to the name and we can prove those rights."

I think Dilana blew it with her antics, and I am not sure that Lucas can actually sing. Toby, I would have NEVER thought had a chance, but the guy just flat out has fun, and I think the Supernova guys see how popular he is, and I believe they want to sell records more than anything. Heck, the originals they sang, especially Toby and Storm were WAY better than any of the SuperNova stuff, and Gilby, Dave and Tommy are cool, but Jason is a dweeb. DD
Agree with you. I just dont like the way Lukas is singing but somehow the fans like him.... hmmmmm I think is between Magni and Toby. Magni could be to dull, a family man. Toby , an australian... can he get along with Tommy Lee>????
Dilana's Roxanne was fricken AMAZING, she really is the best out of all of them, and maybe the editing was done to bring her down a notch and make us think that others have a chance. Gonna be interesting...I could see anyone winning but Lucas. DD
Looks like I was right there. Magni is clearly the most talented guy out there; not sure what Lee has against him. The House Band seems to like this guy. While other jokers are singing their Coldplay/Radiohead/etc. whiny B.S., Magni is up there rocking with Deep Purple, Hendrix, etc. Apparently someone forgot to tell him this wasn't meant to be a serious rock vocalist competition. And I'm sorry, that crap Lukas song is not memorable in any way, and Dilana's song sounds like it was written by my kindergartner.
I think with what's left, Toby makes the most sense for this band since a huge chunk of their fanbase will be chicks who watch this show. Magni, I think he has a good shot at getting good deal after this show, but the way he looks always reminds me of that Vertical Horizon guy. Dilana will not win, but she'll get a record deal out of this for sure. I'm not a fan btw, her voice just doesn't do it for me.
What I can't figure out is why Toby is from Melbourne, and sounds like he has a more American accent than Delani, who is from Houston. Methinks she's faking the bloody accent.
She's from South Africa orginally, so she's actually an African American. . . I could have looked that up easily I guess, but I found out last week when I overheard one of the doctors at the place I'm doing my physical therapy tell another guy that his friend dated her for a while.
I agree. I think Tommy is just taking the piss out of him to keep him from getting over confident, not to mention not giving away who they're going to pick. Lukas's original song came off as being very pretentious to me. He tried to make it so emotional by doing it acoustically, but it came off as been very FAKE and over the top. You know, kind of like him... The chick, while I'm not a fan of hers, I liked both her songs yesterday. I liked Roxanne (for obvious reasons) and I even liked her original. And.....for the first time, I actually found myself wanting to f*** her afterwards. But I can't see the guys picking a girl to front that band. The bald guy sounds like a million other singers that get played on 94.5. Nothing special about his voice at all.
