I've been listening to blues music for over 40 years. Auerbach is one of the top singers/players/writers/producers of all time. Just a natural, great tones.

Jack is in there too, but his singing is quirky, and he forces a visual style.

Dutch Chocolate/Milk Chocolate ... love them both

I really don't think they sound that much alike. Jack White is much more folksy and likes to push genre boundaries (intentionally, not naturally). And as mentioned before, his vocal talent isn't amazing. The black keys do have a well defined sound but that isn't a bad thing. I don't know how many times I've wished an artist didn't "evolve" to play some crappy type of music because they got tired of doing what actually sounds good.

But of course, all the kids love the black keys...so we better hate them.

All this 'cuz Jack White doesn't want to go to parent teacher night with Dan Auerbach?

I have room for both catalogues, but for my money, jack Whites best work is with The Raconteurs.

I've said before "I can give 50 blues acts as good as the Black Keys" and that is somewhat true, but since the Keys became media stars (and they've proven to be very good over several albums now) it's brought blues music back into the popular realm and that's a good thing. There's a whole generation that might have missed the entire genre' without them. Blues music is the antithesis of the emo and atmospheric sounds that pervades this decade.

Sorta the same for Gary Clark Jr. too.

I'm team white. I think in absolutely pure play-any-instrument, play-any-genre, he wins. Folk, bluegrass, blues, hard (really hard) rock: no problem for him.

And his sound is what New Orleans is to cities. You walk one block there and you know you're exactly in New Orleans. You may hate it, but you don't have to ask yourself... "wait, is this Jack White?" When I've heard the black keys, they're fine, but I could easily confuse them with other acts.

Finally, whatever his vocal prowess, nobody scans like Jack White. That makes his already infectious hooks (and great lyrics, IMHO) all the better.

All that said, this thing about who his kids go to school with is kind of pathetic. He's not really copyable, so he needs to quit worrying about less creative people borrowing things from him.

Like both of them, but the White Stripes more.

Very similar styles, but the drumming is quite a bit different.

Surprised by all the Black Keys hate around here. Picking on one of the few good mainstream bands these days that have actually stayed pretty true to themselves? Anyway.

Plus they made this song, so they can't be that bad.

Screw his wife, kick her to the curb and get with Allison Mosshart. Any Jack White band> The black keys.
