Yeah this is what I'm doing. I prefer GHWT's drum set and Guitar Hero guitars better. I never use my Rock Band instruments. I prefer using the GHWT drums even with Rock Band. Personal preference, of course. My RB instruments have pretty much not been used since I bought GHWT.
I haven't noticed a terribly big increase in difficulty from RB1 guitar to RB2. I didn't have trouble with any songs on RB1 except GG&HT. On RB2, a couple songs have some rough solos, but for the most part I can get through them (or for the ones I haven't beat yet I'm pretty sure with a little bit of practice I can get through them...like the Dream Theater song). Since I never got through about half of the songs on RB1 Expert drums, it is hard to gauge the two on that instrument.
Rockband 2 for me. It feels like you're actually playing all the songs in a concert as opposed to GH which feels just like a game. Also the song list is bigger in RB2 because I've imported the RB1 songs into the RB2 and there's more downloadable songs available in the marketplace.
is 151 a good deal for Rock Band 2 for PS3? I know you can get GH:WT for 139.99 at Toys R Us but i want RB2 more.
How does the rock band track packs work? Do you insert the disc and it transfers the songs to your PS3 or do you play it right off the disc so you can't just transfer the songs to your PS3 and give the discs to someone else.
Go to the music store on the RB2 disk. That's how I was told. Haven't done it yet. Still playing existing songs. I love RB2. For the musicians that have commented that they won't play it, because it couldn't match the real thing, try it out. It's quite fun. You're missing out. Sure it doesn't compare to your occasional groupie sex capade, but RB2 doesn't give you VD.
I think you have to play the track pack discs separately which makes it a bit troublesome when you want to switch to one of those songs. I'd rather have it right on the PS3 from the downloaded content in the store BUT right now CC has 40% off games and the trackpacks come out to 16-17 bucks which would make it cheaper than buying it online I think.
I prefer e-drums to play the game: <object width="480" height="295"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pdCpApxGsuI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pdCpApxGsuI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295"></embed></object> BTW, IMHO, drumming in Rock Band is more intuitive and enjoyable on a real e-kit than it is in Guitar Hero. And, as mentioned before, the rate at which they're cranking out songs is amazing. There's something for everyone. But I still play GH:WT a lot because of Death Magnetic. Love that album. Oh, and it has 3 Tool songs as well. Edit: swilkins, I can't wait for Ten as well!
Just got back from CC. Rock Band 2 (game only) for Wii is 29 bucks, 32 after tax. Rock band 2 game only for PS3 is 35 after 40% off. There is one copy at the sweetwater location in a glass shelf that is 49.99 - 40% off which makes it 29 bucks for the PS3 version of Rock Band 2 (game only) Also bundles are 30% off making it 133 for either world tour or rock band 2 for all systems. No Wii bundles though except for world tour. It'll probably drop to 40% but stock started running out quickly when it droppped to 30%.
Gotta go with Rock Band 2. So many more songs to download and the game is just better. Plus I think the songs are slightly cheaper than GHWT. Thats huge for me because I'll download songs somewhat regularly. It's a great party game. Also I was able to download RHCP's BloodSugarSexMagik.
I heard you can play GHWT on the wii across the net with other friends that have it. Can you do this with all of these games, or only GHWT?
Although, I've been played neither at this point. From looks, it looks like Rockband is much more fun. #1 You are playing with other friends #2 There is more than one instrument.
uhh he was referring to gh world tour which is exactly like rockband where you have 2 guitars, a drum set and a karaoke singer
woohooo Jimmy Eat World Pack coming out on Tuesday for RB2!!!! Lucky Denver Mint Sweetness (genius that they picked this) Futures as an avid JEW fan, great picks, but they should really release the whole "Bleed American" as an album
The Circuit City at the Meyerland plaza has ****loads of Rock Band and Guitar Heros all over the place for like 40% off in case anyone is interested.
