no most people graduate when they're 17 and then they turn 18 when they get to college. yes, he is a dumba$$. actually, he just transferred to a lot of high schools so he was unable to complete his education.
The congenital whining on this board every time some analyst disses Yao has always annoyed me. Now that we're talking about a guy who writes for Slate, it's doubly annoying. Sticks and stones, people. Sticks and stones. It doesn't matter what Weintraub says. It certainly doesn't matter what you say about what Weintraub says. All that matters is how Yao plays and who has to eat their words about what a bust he'd be. Yeah, when Weintraub said Yao would be a bust, I told our sports editor he was wrong. And when I turned out to be right, I gave the editor grief about it, and eventually he admitted Yao was a stud. But all my b****ing and told-you-so's don't mean squat. Yao does the talking, not you or me.
Not Weintraub either. Why didn't he let Yao do the talking? He started b****ing even before Yao played his first NBA game. He is a fool. Period.
I have to say these are among the most objective articles I have read about Yao. I don't see any bad feeling here. He even said he liked Yao Ming better than "the player he's inevitably compared to, Shawn Bradley", who is the most underrated player in the league. He was simply telling the facts. How accurate was his comments about Wang ZZ's strength/weakness and personality? (and it was written almost 3 years ago!) As a basketball adviser working in Asia, Robert Weintraub had watched Ming and Wang closely since they were teenagers, longer than any other scouts here in the US. I can't believe more. I only hope Yao can play longer than Shawn Bradley, not ending up where he came from, a Shanghai Shark, again.
what the f*** are you talking about? how is that most objective? explain to me how does Yao NOT have a soft touch? why Yao doesn't deserve the ROY? How the f***Amare is a far MORE advanced player than Yao?
