Link Former NBA player Robert "Tractor" Traylor was found dead Wednesday in his beach apartment in Puerto Rico, his team said. Traylor, who had been playing in Puerto Rico for Vaqueros de Bayamon, had been missing for three days before friends went to visit him and found his body. A cause of death has yet to be determined. Traylor was not active for Vaqueros, as he was rehabbing a heel injury. He underwent a surgical procedure on his heart in 2005. Traylor, 34, was a McDonald's All-American and played college basketball at Michigan. He was drafted No. 6 overall in the 1998 NBA draft by the Dallas Mavericks, who traded him to Milwaukee for the Bucks' two first-round picks, Dirk Nowitzki and Pat Garrity. In seven seasons with the Bucks, Cavaliers and Hornets, he averaged 4.8 points and 3.7 rebounds in 438 career games. The Vaqueros requested that Wednesday's game against Indios de Mayaguez be canceled in memory of Traylor.
Stinks to see anyone go young. Life can be really hard on these guys when they fall out of the league.
I never really ever saw him play, and just looked up his basketball profile. A 6'8'' player weighing 290 lbs? How is that possible? That probably really impacted his heart, and I would just speculate probably had something to do with it. But god this is pretty tragic, especially since this is occurring right when Dirk has gone nuts this postseason.
He will be the guy known as the player traded for dirk. Not saying if he lost weight, he would have been great, but in sure the weight hindered his career. From what my memory recalls, he was a bad ass at Michigan.
He and I are the same age. He's a professional athlete. I have always been embarrassingly inactive. He's dead. I'm alive. The world makes no sense sometimes.
Really not that fat or heavy for his height. Mario Williams is 6'7 290, most o-line are 6'3-6'8 300+ so it's prob a drug thing, heart would be fine if he was still playing bball. Anywho sucks for Miluakee about Dirk.
RIP Tractor. It's sad that he didn't his life together. I remember reading an article about he struggled with his weight, and was trying to make a comeback in Puerto Rico. This guy was a BEAST at Michigan....I even remember playing with him in NBA Live, and he was a force.
Considering he had previous heart issues, I'm sure that played a role. I was a fan when he was at UM. He dominated in college. Just wasn't quick enough for it to translate to the pros. Rest in peace, Tractor.
Sometimes I think I'm the only 1 in this world that don't like beer or any form of alcohol, cigarettes, cigars, weed (tried it), and probably any form of illicit or prescription drugs for that matter. I have circuitry in my brain that lacks the wiring for these types addictions.
